The Nokia 500 is Nokia's first 1GHz Symbian smartphone

01 August, 2011
Nokia continues its Symbian push with its latest Nokia 500. It's quite like the C5-03 but with a 1GHz flare.

You know what I love about these last remaining Nokia fans?

Their absolutely undying belief in Nokia and they will justify any Nokia move to you...

N8 is released with an old 680MHz CPU, Nokia fans say: "Who needs the CPU, the N8 has a powerful GPU, that's what matters, the N8 does not need a new 1GHz CPU."

500 is released with an old 1GHz CPU and no GPU, Nokia fans say: "It's has a 1GHz CPU! There is no need for the GPU, Symbian is so optimized and so powerful under the bonnet, there is no need for the GPU, 1GHz is very powerful!"

Ah Nokia fans, you are a comedy.

I don't think the N8 is ugly at all. Its certainly not the most attractive phone but I hardly think its ugly. The N8 has outpaced the Pixon and Satio in head to head photography tests.

Anonymous, 01 Aug 2011N900 is beast, even on it's 2nd birthday :)Excuse me but plz stop guys your n900 BS, i can browse internet and play some music with my BT headset without any lag switching my browsers tabs on a GS1, unlike 1 poor tab in FFOX with same music on my empty work's n900.

Also, i can go on playing music while shooting a photo with a GS, unlike a n900 which pauses the music automatically. Don't talk me about limitations, the user is the one to choose his limitations or i'd get an iphone then..

Also, just open 2 browsers (defaut + ffox), open 2 different sites and see your n900 still holding solid.

Want more examples? I can go like this all day long.
I use a n900 daily since its release, and i m so willing that my company gives me even a "small" Defy instead.

Reacting time is slow for calling, hanging up, waiting for light sensor to give you the screen back, opening text messages.. Jeez, n900 WAS a good phone, we know but it's like keeping bragging about n95 nowadays..

I admit the only good thing is that it's very solid, it has fallen often with me on any type of surface, and for now it only got scratched (badly).

One of my friends has the Incredible and it lagged a lot too. I had apps crashing left and right. I just got tired of it and went with the N8. It lags too from time to time, but nothing nearly as bad as the Galaxy. Besides I got a great camera with the N8.
