Well, against current competition, Symbian would lose market share at an accelerated rate. The way I see it is that going all in on WP7 is the biggest gamble an OEM can ever make. Gamble has two outcomes where as sticking with Symbian would just be one outcome. I had few days of experience with C-7 before I returned it. To be honest, I don't think it's touchscreen optimized.

i'm not saying symbian was competitive compared to other players. Im saying nokia was selling them nevertheless. The uptrend might not have been as sharp as the others but it was there.
I'm not against nokia ditching symbian. Im against elop announcing such before wp devices were ready.
Does nokia seem to you in a better position now than it would have been with symbian? Why would anyone but a nokia wp over any of the others?

Correction: USERS OF BETTER PHONES.
We hate Nokia for a reason. It's because we all were Nokia fans once. Again and again we threw money at phones like 5800, N96, n97, n8. It only got worse.
Post all YouTube videos you want. They can't make a silk purse out of this sow's ear even in their own demo video. Anna, Belle, Catherine.. 400,600,1000 MHz. IT SUCKED BEFORE AND IT SUCKS EVEN HARDER TODAY.
Stick with Nokia all you want, wallow in your misery. Just don't insult our intelligence.

When I threw money at the N97, they told me a 434 MHz processor was good enough. It sucked.
WIth the N8, they said 600 MHZ was good enough. It sucked harder.
Now they say that 1 GHz is the new 434 MHz. Guess what: The phone sucks according the DEMO video. Everything is laggy. I wonder how much worse it would be in real life.
Whatever they said about Symbian was wrong. It's a crippled old system. Not fast, not powerful'under the hood' (a favorite phrase of Nokia lovers). No matter what hardware you throw at it, it cannot help lagging.
Nokia, you guys are officially dead. You can make anything seem clunky and unwieldy. I pity WP7.

Nokia and Motorola are like the parents who cradled this industry. Now they are have become grandparents that needs to be put in their pasture.
Google all of Nokia's innovations. We wouldn't be where would be without them. People assume Apple invented the cell phone or smartphone. They reinvented.
Nokia was the first with GSM, ringtone, games (Snake), built-in antenna, GSM triband, GSM push-to-talk, and the N91 was a revolutionary music phone (amazing audio quality) for its time back in 2005. Appreciate Nokia, the pioneers. Been around in the cell phone industry years before Apple, Microsoft, and Google were founded.

Just stick to your lower budget phones and keep this under $100. It is sad they are going down like this and waited to bring a 1GHz phone almost two years later. They are the pioneers of the industry and stuck at the stone ges. Luckily, Apple still has to pay them royalties since Nokia has been around years before Apple, Microsoft, and Google. Nokia has 10,000 patents. The patent dispute was settled out of court.

AnonD-1124, 01 Aug 2011it seems you cant tell between symbian devices and dumb pho... moreAlthough while its true that analyst and investors look for YoY but this has many factors to include, economic conditions has a huge role in this. However when you have a constant decline QoQ for the past 3 quarters that can not be denied. Also remember that was Nokia's first growth in a couple years. You might want to also note that although sales volume increased slightly revenues and profits decreased due to lower average price of devices sold by Nokia. Also as a consumer YOU do not need to look at YoY but QoQ as it pertains to their current market strengths where as YoY is for financial growth.

Also, just adding up the numbers don't get you correct analysis. Compare it to competition. You'll see why they decided to make the decisions they made.
Piss poor performance of Nokia shares reflects exactly how piss poor the "increase in sales volume" was. The "increase" was so minuscule I don't think you can even call it one.
Really, learn to read. If you think you know how to read, but other people are telling you can't, chances are you don't know how to read. If you think you can read, try developing your analysis skills next.
