I’m impressed, I must say. Really rarely should i encounter a blog that’s both educative and entertaining, and without a doubt, you’ve hit the nail within the head. Your concept is outstanding; the thing is an issue that too few folks are speaking intelligently about. I am delighted which i came across this inside my find something with this. seo service UK

I chose 3 years because most phones are on the market for about a year. The people that buy it on the last day deserve a couple of years of support, ~2 major updates, while the people that bought it at a higher price closer to launch deserve more.

Maybe Samsung is not committed to 2 or 3 years of updates, but in my experience their flagships always gets at least 3 years of updates and sometimes even 4 (my gf's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 got the last update just little bit after 4th birthday and I believe same story for Note 4). I know that cheaper Samsung phones does not get updates after 2 years, though A series is exception with most phones getting 3rd update.

NO. Not just "the flagships". ANY phone legally sold in the west should have a mandatory minimum support life, down to the lowliest $10 joke. Support or bust. Flagships are welcome to include extra support if they want to, but NO phone should be meant for landfill just because hey "I could easily afford a newer one".

I always find it funny crazy people compare a mobile phone with a laptop.
People believe and get into the "powerful Snapdragon CPU hype" news where as those mobile CPUs are not even more powerful than a entry level Intel Atom processor. And even the latest Apple chip.
One wouldn't be able to do sustained heavy file compression, webserver, software development, and for the standard user even open 10 tabs in a row to do job research or studying for students.
Let's talk about gaming. The most beautiful game on smartphone is running at 20-30 fps max whereas on a laptop it would run at 2x more and the laptop is 2x cheaper. And finally, the games are not as beautiful as on a laptop. Smartphones have their advantage (screen quality for example) and are simply hard to compare to a laptop.
Most people comparing smartphone and laptops are casual users that don't care about doing serious work, just using Facebook and Instagram and call it a day.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2018Sometime the latest IOS update will ruin the performance. Because we paid upfront for 3 years of updates which coincidently also included the update which slowed down my iphone 6s so that i could buy a new crapple device!!
No more iphones for me!

I don't give a shit about OS updates. I can't think of a single instance in my entire decade of phone ownership where I ever thought "I wish my phone ran the latest OS." I do however, care about SECURITY updates, which are a completely separate entity. As seen with the Galaxy S5 which long since stopped getting OS feature updates, yet in 2018 is still getting security updates. I don't get why websites keep treating them as if they're the same thing, when it's an Apple-only thing to force people to take their OS and security updates together, forcing their users to choose between poor performance or no security.

3 years of updates is good enough. No point in having more than 3 years if the phone becomes so laggy and buggy (*ehem* iOS *ehem*) after the 3rd year that you're pretty much forced to buy a new phone.

I have got a Samsung Galaxy K Zoom since 2014 that has cost me more than 400 euros. In these 4 years, he has not received a single update from Samsung. Many people tell me that it has been a failed Samsung project ... I don't care, I paid for a phone based on the S5 system 400 euros and the minimum that Samsung had to have done is to equip it with enough technology to update it to Lollipop . Today I checked as my father's Moto G4 that I gave him this summer with Android 6.0 has received the update to 7.1 and today a new security patch. My Galaxy K Zoom has not received a single security patch. So this year I decided to leave my Samsung and go to buy a Moto X4 because I see that a brand like Motorola takes the issue of updates much more seriously than Samsung. Samsung, there you stay! See you never!

Kyo, 11 Feb 2018The companies want to constantly sell and make profits,if ... moreno i don't think people buy new phone not at all for the OS but for the revolutionary of the phone that is its successor in termes of hardware and new features that brings with it.
recently i saw a post i think the guy said that he used an old phone for example a galaxy s5 which is too old now for an upgrade but he used a custom rom of a recent OS on it but it works fine for him. in your case if people buy a new phone for the new OS, in my reflection that guy must buy a new phone because of the OS. may be you buy a new phone for the OS.
secondly it has a post on Xaomi, read it and realize what you are saying about. from your own words you encourage manufacturer to do not support their phone that is no update for existing one and if you want a new fresh OS just buy a new one phone.
