What infuriates me and some others is how shameless these brands are. Chinese OEMs are known for this but seeing Sharp becoming like this is disappointing. Look at this design, can you see anything that is unique to Sharp? Answer is No.

Sharp did the notch thing way before apple, and so have other companies like the essential phone.
It's lazy fanboy journalism that paints a picture of apple being first with design and technology, when the reality is they follow.

Unfortunately, now, for majority, every new phone with a notch is a copy/clone of iphone x.

When apple does something then everyone are copy cats and no matter that apple is the copy cat. Fan boys will always be dumb cause they don't know anything more then see what Apple does.

These companies rush these kind of products to launch just before the real deal. iPhone's leaks are known well before 6 months of release especially if there is a big change coming.
Remember Huawei launched a force touch device earlier than iPhone just to get credit. That phone was so rushed that it felt like a beta product.

Seems like Sharp merely relocated some of their remaining bezels... From the bottom to the top of the screen as a notch.
As for copying, all bezelless phones are derivatives of the original Sharp Aquos Crystal so I don't see the issue of this "copying". Others copied Sharp, after all.

So Sharp Aquos S2 was before iphone X and had a notch, but now suddenly the S3 has an iphone X-like notch.
I have nothing against the notch, but saying it's a copy of iphone X's notch is same as to say every phone with rounded corners and a button below the screen is a clone of original iphone.

It's so disappointing having something trendy and useless trumps adding useful features. Having 2 tiny slivers of light that serve no function is a waste, especially when you realize that it has to be more expensive to create a screen with a notch than one that's a regular rectangle.

Android phones that resemble an iphone with no good excuse should never be bought. They should be allowed to flop and send a clear message to the manufacturer. Same goes for those without headphone jack.
