Vegetaholic, 10 Feb 2018Samsung literally puts other brands to shame with this deci... moreThe same time, it is a shame that their flagship Note 8 is just starting to receive Oreo when, say Xiaomi's mid range Mi A1 has already been having it months ago.
And it's not other companies to be shamed, they're Qualcomm and Google. Remember when Nougat was supposed to roll out on SD800/801 devices and ended up none of them receiving it?
Thanks their smart move, their in-house chipset gave them the advantage.
I just wonder how the S7 Edge SD820 version users would feel when their similar device but with E8890 would get Android P while theirs won't.

This is the advantage of an in-house chipset.
SD800/801 devices are well-capable of running Android 7 Nougat, but because of Qualcomm and Google, devices with those SoCs are out of luck.
It was something with Sony's Xperia Z3, where it received the BETA versions of Nougat but ended up not receiving it officially, and same story for other SD800/801 devices.

Even if it gets Oreo, it won't have the latest ui changes. Only some updated Samsung apps & some visual changes, but won't look like Oreo on an S7/8/9 though.
