Jacky, 12 Feb 2018I have used pure Android on my Nexus phones and am using MI... moreMan having a Moto X4 with stock android and i can tell you aoart from google play facebook messenger and gmail my phone had nothing else.
Having some UI doesnt matter which HTC SAMSUNG HUAWEI XIAOMI it really doesnt matter it fills your phone with useless bloatware where your OS will cover 50% + disk space from a budget phone and nothing of that extra will be usefull. All that bloatware will works like a part of OS and you cant completely remove it and with every OS update it will be again installed to your phone.
I rather install what i want that constantly remove what i really dont want.
So pure android is always better than pure UI Bloatware.

I personally prefer skinned android over vanilla android

LAst few days there was an announcement that HTC loosing its customers a big.
      Customers know why.
HTC once a great company with excellent devices now its like a giant whale on a shallow water. I wonder what you see in this company but for me its everything else but not a bright future.

Yep.. I prefer android one too over MIUI.
Okay MIUI is good with some features that the stock android do not have, like the quick ball, 2nd apps, etc. But the lack of the basic feature is a deal breaker for me.
And its complicated approach to simple task like...
When you have to use two fingers if you want to expand the notification from the top screen... No setting to make notification stay at home screen... Aggresive apps-killing feature... No quick reply from notif... People who use a UI close to stock like Xperia's or Moto's UI before must be missing that simple yet functional features.

Though I like stock, I never used it without eevie launcher. I dont like the app drawer and designchanges every year. Miui is the best UI after stock since it's clean, smooth and fun to use. Also one can just change everything to once like without using nova (i hate that launcher) or any other launcher. I personally run miui 9 on mi mix and wouldnt go back to stock right now.

Honestly this is a problem with how China does things. In the west things get spun to fit the narrative. So even when iOS isn't as popular as Android Apple just says that that's because more people are poor and Android devices are cheaper. China has the straighforward approach to things that really play against it in the west.

Really the results were easy to expect. China might be tech forward but the rest of the world is still held back. Stock android is a reflection on that with many limitations and few customizable features. MIUI was a way to break out of that and especially with personalization through customization. Most westerners wouldn't know where to begin. For example I've got a custom theme on my MIUI that adds a second navigational menu and several customizable lockscreen shortcuts and widgets. Westerners like having things decided for them so they'd stick to the stock skin of MIUI and lose basically all the benefits of the OS. I mean just look at two people's phones regardless if they are android or iOS. They'll look almost identical. Now look at two Chinese smartphone users. Chances are even if they are using iOS it'll look very different from what we're used to.

There should be more alternatives to stock Android. Especially if they embrace project Treble and provide seamless and fast security updates. Speaking of which, I like the most MIUI, Flyme and Samsung's Grace UX.

MI A1 is one of the best budget phone I have ever seen... Smooth lagfree OS and relatively flagship grade camera... Better than all the other Redmi Phones...

Anonym, 12 Feb 2018Xiaomi just needs to embrace the difference between China a... moreYeah, especially with project Treble: Xiaomi only needs to develop one branch of MIUI for all their devices and have one Android One ROM that can run on all their devices as well. And they don't even need to work on Android One as per definition all phones released with Android Oreo must be able to run a stock Android One ROM without any modifications to pass Google's Compatibility Test.

They can really have the best of both worlds and use MIUI in China and Android One in the West.

Best approach is to provide optional quality free apps with stock android. Security app, app for dual apps, app for scrolling screenshot etc.

to each his own. stock(ish) android(including oxygen os and motorola's ui) is my way of life.

                                  There are ads in miui

MIUI is one of few batteries included ROM, and since version 8 it really is distinct from stock. I used to eventually switch to stock on all my previous Xiaomi phones, but since MIUI 7 on Mi 5, the completeness started to hold me. I did try some stock based custom ROMs such as RR and Lineage, but not for long I return to MIUI. MIUI 8 ties me, and MIUI 9 makes me forget about stock ROM at all. Now if only it's open source...

Xiaomi just needs to embrace the difference between China and the West, while China absolutely loves iOS look-alikes, the West is much more split (if not biased towards clean Android).

Just cater to both, I don't even get what their problem is, stock Android just give a lot LESS work than MIUI -- just call it a win Xiaomi!

This was not so easy. Both ROMs are smooth and light, just one thing that MIUI has some additional features. While stock android is plain. I personally prefer Stock Android but not the current one but the previous version with app drawer button. Samsung is using swipe up app drawer in their Tizen phones since 2015.
