Analyst: more Nokia phones were sold in Q4 than HTC, Sony, Google or OnePlus phones

12 February 2018
Under the stewardship of HMD, the Nokia brand claimed the 11th place globally (and if you count feature phones, it was 6th).

kurotsuki, 12 Feb 2018I don't think that would be the case. I mean, they already ... moreFor now at least HMD will remain separate, but when Nokia gets lots of profit after the rolling out of 5G, I wouldn't be surprised if they buy it entirely.

    Nokia is the way forward

Aadrian, 12 Feb 2018Just a matter of time before HMD will be bought by Nokia th... moreI don't think that would be the case. I mean, they already affiliated of some sort. I think Nokia still want a separate entity for their mobile business. Just in case something gone haywire again, they can easily shed off their liability on it. Why bother annex it when two companies can run side by side?

This is mostly a nostalgic resurgence.
I would have loved to have a Nokia 8, but the sub-par camera and has largely kept me away from it. The all-aluminum design however is something that might make me close my eyes at a sub-par camera in the next iteration. Can't stand glass-aluminum-glass sandwiches of most companies today....

They might be a new player, but that after-sales service you experienced is inexcusable. I hope you're the only unlucky one with such bad treatment. Their after sales performance HAS to be aces for them to continue growing. I'm a shameless Nokia fanboy too, so I want them to succeeded.

Dont foolishly buy nokia phone following the brand name
Todays nokia phones are worst, not in configuration but in looks, design and most of all worst camera even.

Surely there can be better phonea you can buy for your hard earned money.

The company we knew is long gone and the present company is cashing that brand name by throwing phones without making an effort of making phone lovable.

                  Nokia keep moving on!

Africa, one place most manufacturers forget, it's the third biggest Continent and no longer made of deserts and trees. Only those who venture there win the sales game

[deleted post]How about i tell you that Sony sales are much better than HTC Meizu and Alcatel?
Yes it’s not that big deal but saying that “all companies”?! Beats Sony?
Do some research if you don’t mind

                        Thanks to nostalgic people.

Budget phones at the right price sell big. Who knew? Not a lot of manufacturers, it seems.

Congratulations! is all I can say, but seriously, Nokia actually selling more phones than Sony, Google and especially Lenovo (considering the fact that in markets, both Lenovo and Moro phones are sold as one company), is really surprising to me. Even if that comparison stand for them each one individually

Quite the progress. I just wish their customer service/service centers kept up with the pace.
They couldn't fix my Nokia 6 even after a month in the service center. In the end, they replaced it completely. They don't have individual replacement parts. And their service center quality is laughable at this point. I submitted my phone for a headphone jack repair, they 2 took weeks to fix that. Then when they were reassembling it, they damaged the screen in that pressing machine. Then took 3 more weeks trying to find replacement parts. But couldn't. I complained, a lot! 2-3 calls per day for those 3 weeks, that's when they replaced the phone and gave me a new piece.
I don't want it to be a rant, but more of a feedback/lesson for them. This coming for a longtime Nokia fanboy.

Just a matter of time before HMD will be bought by Nokia themselves I guess. The number of phones sold is very easy to explain, the brand name of Nokia is a strong one.
