android is just 3 to 4 years old. its very very immature. even nokia,s symbian is better than it. the only mature platform for the phone is meego. i sold my n900 and bot a x10. regretting deep heartedly.im sure n9 will be a block buster phone and nokia will again come to top after its release. i like nokia bcoz there smart phones are equipped with heavily multi-system features.i dnt mean multi-tasking but multi-system/function.

If the manufacturers werent's so bloody stingy with firmware upgrades we would be seeing a much higher % of gingerbread users!!!!! Motorola Defy being a example!

I'm a little wary about upgrading to Gingerbread when it becomes available for the HTC Desire Z. I've had a few less than ideal experiences with app software and phone firmware upgrades. Although my phone as is is not absolutely perfect, I'm afraid that I will have more issues that the benefits of Gingerbread will not outweigh.

I don't upgrade because its a hassle to restore everything. And by the way, how do you back up your app's data without root access? I have upgraded the firmware once and I lose data. When I reinstalled some games, I have to start from scratch. Have to reconfigure most settings also. Is there a better way?

The reason why not everybody choose to upgrade from Froyo is because Froyo is good enough. Upgrading to Froyo gave us Adobe Flash 10, but there is no big improvement like that when upgrading from Froyo to Gingerbread, and why upgrade if you are completely satisfied with Froyo!?
