Bailey, 09 Aug 2011Sorry on my HTC Incredible there is extremely little
Betwe... moreIf you read my comments you'd realise I was talking iPhone updates not android updates.
I also have an android phone but with it being 15 months old sadly I'll never get to see the difference between 2.2 and 2.3 my phone is no longer supported by HTC. in fact it was forgotten by them several months ago.
At least apple still support older devices and work on making them better unlike HTC who just keep rushing more models out whilst then ignoring the old ones.

AnonD-9023, 09 Aug 2011I think i barely agree ur statement here .
I never accep... moreWhile Apple succeeds, others fail precisely because they are think like you - that technology is a purpose for itself.
I agree that Apple does not innovate technology, but you fail to see this isn't one and only aspect of innovating. In fact, it's pretty irrelevant when comes to profit and popularity.
Apple doesn't innovate technologies, it uses existing ones, but they innovate the ways of using those technologies. This is the fundamental, broad definition of interface - interface as a global technological paradigm that defines the way we are using media. Apple invested only in that - from industrial and graphic design of ther hardware and software products all the way to making lifestyle and engineering the ways of using those products - most notably the new world of handheld apps which is now dominating even if it's not something technologically new and unseen.
They actually convinced people that MacOS is the most advanced OS in the world - which is technologically way behind Microsoft's Vista/7 tech - because they are inventing marketing and "coolness", they are inventing signs instead physical products.
And the main problem here is, which is why it looks like a conspiracy to me - is how only Apple understand this - how come others can't get to that simple fact, despite their centres with hundreds of marketing geniuses.

AnonD-16587, 08 Aug 2011Actually, Apple has constant and impeccable market and popu... moreI think i barely agree ur statement here .
I never accept apple as innovative company in any way.
only thing i agree is that they make good software but nothing new in that software.
for example : take hardware , they take everything from samsung , toshiba and sue samsung .
and they don't want competition , they just want to to eliminate competition .
if u consider software side , can u name me a single thing apple innovated in 2000-2009 decade ? nothing .
first snow leopard , multi-core threads , new safari , iwork suite are somewhat important = nothing new
in that same keynote they said "microsoft is trying to get out of vista with windows 7 without any innovation"
What about Lion ? where are new technologies ? only refinements , they blamed windows 7 because it didnt have any new technologies but had only refinements but now Lion also same like windows 7 without introducing any new technologies .
hardware side apple is good only on outer-surface-designing and everything else cheap quality .
A4 chip = cheap quality samsung humming bird processor used in galaxy S .
they make only software visually appealing but it doesn't have powerful technologies .
everything late and also high price tags but still people buy apple products and give high star reviews..
why ? its simple .
for example microsoft zune has OLED display in 2009 which is much clearer than LCD and many of the phones had high quality displays that time but iphone 3gs or ipod touch 3g have very low quality displays but luckily there was no-one to compete with appstore that time because all other stores were very low content and in 2010 , high quality displays become cheap automatically because HQ displays become popular and then they make retina-display and boast .
same with 5 MP camera , n82/n95 had cams of 5 MP in 2007 and apple made them in 2010 and people says camera is good even it had yellowish tint allover .
but they only care about quality but not colors
apple promises less features and in very late time , which makes cost of production cheap and highest profits .
one apple macbookpro laptop profit = profit of 7 HP laptops

The major versions such as 2, 3, 4 and 5 have all added lots of extra functionality. And some of the intermediate ones too like 4.1 adding HDR for example.

Anonymous, 08 Aug 2011I personally fail to understand what the fuss is all about.... moreActually, Apple has constant and impeccable market and popularity growth for almost 15 years now, since they introduced first iMac, and contiuned with iPod, then iPhone and iPad. Apple doesn't come and go, it stays. Their formula is perfect. Instead recycling itself on a old glory, like Nokia, Apple is allways on the move, and it doesn't play copycat, it innovates new ways of thinking which other follow, and they constitute them by seduction of mases.

I personally fail to understand what the fuss is all about. Companies come and go. Today Apple are enjoying success, Motorola, Nokia, Sony Ericsson have all been here before who knows 2 Years from now we might be talking Samsung or HTC. This is Apple's moment. It's all about embracing new Ideas and identifying market trends quickly. Nokia failed to do that. N97 was all wrong and IMO is what messed Nokia up. N8 "decent piece of kit" was sort of the come back for Nokia but I guess it failed.

AnonD-16414, 07 Aug 2011Absolutely right friend.Apple is nothing compared to the ra... moreThe break down that i would like to see when people keep saying that Android is eating Apple for lunch is which handset makes up most of the 550,000 sold a day. the fact of the matter is Apple sold 20 million this quarter with mainly one handset ok people may be buying the ipone 3GS but i imagine the major sales in handsets in the iphone 4. that is an amazing figure if you take into account that Samsung sold 17 million handsets and they all have their own Bada platform and well as quite a few android handsets floating around.
The fact of the matter is their loads of companies making Android handsets and only one company making Apple handsets so its hardly fair to compare. i would rather compare that for all the 550,000 Android handsets sold why dosent one of them have the effect that Apple does with one. I could be wrong but when was the last time your saw people in a que for and Android handset? what is about Apple that no matter how many Android phones come with better specs that the iphone people still want one an iphone? why is it also that there are people that have android phones but dont even know thats what they have? why is google just so intent on competing with dual core and ever higher specs but does not spend half the time on user experience why after all this time in the will still dont have a music, movie app experience that is not in beta. why is my Android handset that i bought in April will take forever to see the next update if it get it at all? why are Android OEM more worried about pushing ever feature laden handsets that will be yesterdays news in 6 months time? why after all this time even if you are running vanilla Android am i seeing force closers and freezes and lags on my handset? why after all this time does the Android market look like the wild west and still has so many sub par apps that tend to crash and just plain dont work? Why isnt Android just a pick up and use easy experience why are people required to have some knowledge before hand? why do people keep going on about custom roms and the like when it should be a seemless experience when you take it out of the box, why do people root their phone and then shout out about how great Android is because you can do that, when the average user couldnt care less?
Maybe if when people can answer this question without swearing at me or call me a troll which i cant be since i am Android user. Then people in some degree will understand why Apple is popular, and no i dont own a iphone.

Sun Down, 07 Aug 2011You're probably right about hardcore PC gamers being minori... moreNo, I don't think minority innovates, especially in current economic model which drives all of commercially available technologies. You could say that for time before late capitalism (more than century ago) where individuals or small groups of interest could develop technologies and be innovative, but today all of this is allways initiated by masses (although most often artificialy engineered needs/desires).
Gaming industry was allways on the wings of IT industry for masses forced to use Windows (can you say something about advanced gaming industry for MacOS and Linux?), and now gamers could easily be left and discarded as industry focuses on bigger market - average users who mostly use internet and play casual games and start to buy tablets. True gamers would be left behing and possibly ignored. Ok, they probably won't be ignored, but pushed away to a marginal segment of the market - all in all, they would not be the critical mass that holds staying on the Windows/PC platform for majority of users.

It's usually the minority that innovates, not the masses, don't you think?

Your opinion about Apple bashers is a bit narrow don't you think? It's either they're insecure and defensive about the product they bought or it's because of Apple's bullying/copying/etc of other companies.

Those were bad times and we as consumers lost because of the minimal freedom that was given. Sure there are other OS, but at that time Windows went dominant so consumers don't have much choice. I can see what Apple is doing now is the same as what Microsoft did before, except this time it's gonna be a female dog to get out from their ecosystem.
