And the reason people don't change iPhones very often is that they cost a lot of money and people prefer to wait and save money and skip a model or two. Those who can afford that, change as soon they can. But I'm too lazy to answer to all of what you've written...

Admit it, you are pissed off to see Apple having so much success. Not to worry, Apple will never lie on their laurels. Just goes to show, while Apple has been taking leaps and bounds, MS has been struggling to even get off the ground. If Apple was to sell its OS like MS does, MS would be in Chapter 11.

I laugh out loud every time I see some stupid persons comment claiming that iphone owners are brainwashed/dumb/sheep. The likes of Stephen Fry, who loves the iphone can't really be classed as those can he? And it's already been proven that IT technicians prefer the iphone countless times. Businesses can simply use an App to connect from anywhere to their network. So that smashes the Apple Haters theories completely.
They are just crybabies who can't stand the fact that Apple are popular, with a huge userbase and eco system that is better than any other smartphone OS.

These guys are usually willing to dish out the greens if it means playing the most ground-breaking, realistically renderred game graphics at maximum. I think it's these 2 customers that will make the PC market survive in the future, though then again, there's also hybrid tablets so PC won't be gone literally since the concept it's there. As you said about the evolution of consumers, it won't be long before the standard changes from 2D Flash games to Crysis-level graphics as there are some who wants a break-through instead of being stuck in a 'simple world'.

Sun Down, 07 Aug 2011You're basically saying most people buy product due to it b... moreI sincerely hope you are right about WP7, I would too also want that because that would mean more choice for users, more competitive and thus faster-developing market, and smaller prices. The users would be the winners, a there would be a balance of the forces between manufacturers.
About that tablet thing - they said similar thing for LCD monitors 10 or so years ago - they were niche products, lacking fundamental features and very expensive.
They are still very expensive to manufacture, but market has grown so big that they are very cheap to end user. So will it be with tablets. They have just begun, and they are already much wanted, thanks to iPad. And now every laptop manufacturer also spread its production to tablets, because they see the future (which failed last time in 2003 with Microsoft Tablet PC). Tablets will become very cehap and they offer to end users what they actually want - Internet, social networking, data-on-the-move, apps and of course - sliding gestures that are cool :-)
Only market that will stay on classic computers is professional segment, so instead of convergence of the markets, we will see separation of developing evolutionary trees.

Remember DELL PCs back in the days? They were the most popular for a few years I believe before Apple came along with their 1984 Ad. Same goes for smartphones: Symbian > Android/iOS > most likely WP7

I'll still stand by my point that Nokia's WP7 will grab the people's attention due to it being 'unique at the time'. This is because, like I stated before, the media usually covers Android and iOS devices. I'm not saying Mango will dominate everyone, I'm just saying it'll gain a strong enough foothold to make it's presence acknowledged by the people as a rival for those 2, though it's just the fanboys that's to be worried about. Your point about tablets is questionnable, while people might buy into the hype until now, it won't be surprising that people now regard tablets as a fad and overly-expensive niche product once they've used it for more than a month. Unless the tablet's mainstream price is around 200 US dollars, I don't see it to gain more momentum as of now.

Not all users want big phone, but ALL smartphone users do!
Recently our Croatian IT magazine made extensive test of almost all available smartphones in our market. Screens below 4.0" were considered to small and generally a flaw, which reduced its total rating on test. For example, they said that Desire S (3,7 inch sreen) was a great phone except screen should be bigger.
Interesting thing was, when they spoke about iPhone, they said that screen is too small, but considering that's an iPhone, this is not a flaw, and gave it award for best phone in the test, putting Samsung Galaxy S2 in second place as best buy (BEST BUY???), giving it highest rating but discarding it as the best because of "subjective test".
It's incredible what seductive power iPhone has, whether it was a paid marketing move or those testers were actual idiots.

Same reason WP7 devices don't sell, most of them are way too big for average users and WP7 is mostly for average users. If nokia want to sell their WP7 phones, they need to make it smaller.

First I thought that I9000 Galaxy will be the....iphone's nemesis...superior to iphone in nearly all aspects...that didn't happend...now visualizing october..long lines of people will camp near Apple stores,just like in Tahrir Square, waiting to be the among the first ones to get the iphone 5....Realisticly speaking,it look that no phone,no matter how good it is will be able to outsell the iphone...despite all it's restrictions the iphone is unbeateble at the moment...maybe in a couple of years the spell that Apple casted upon people will fade away.... Also i've read hear some remarks like "idiot-proof", "stupidity in people" in reference to Iphone users...I also don't like iphone,but such offensive language (coming from some who look to be educated people) is wrong! Nobody should be insulted for choosing a brand over another and his choice should be respected!
