To all Apple fans and Samsung fans ... Hope everybody knows the issues with Apple and Samsung. However, we now know that Apple was using Samsung manufactured chips and the Apple customers are happy to pay whatever Apple quotes. Great!!
So guys if you have been praising the products of Apple, you are saying thanks to Samsung ...who makes the Apple products run...

Regarding the OS.. Android has almost got the 50% market share in the smartphone business.. That means people are aware that OS makes the difference. And also Apple who has now conveyed the next version of OS will be close to Android.

So let the comparison go on.. and we will enjoy the benefits of this.

It's a sad cycle unless someone made an even more idiot-proof product.

If Apple had more models it would only divide their sales and not affect other brands. Not having variety customizable to the individual user is not a plus. It just makes all those who buy the exact same product a sheep. Especially considering the atrix, GS2, sensation, Evo, and optimus are all much better products. But hey, who buys a phone for ...features. Maybe Toyota should just sell 1 type of car. The iPhone has four years of success as the follow on to the ipad. But people are starting to catch on.

Though I do see Microsoft putting effort into advertising WP7 this time, so I'll stick to my prediction. Not to mention, Nokia's partnership with Microsoft actually did capture a lot of attention, should shouldn't their first collaborated product gain them the momentum too? I'm sure at least GSMArena to review Nokia's first WP7 phone and give the OS a detailed review, that way Mango will reach out to a lot of people.

Sliding content (which is mostly irrelevant) in responsive and eye-candy manner on a glass screen has a purpose of its own, the self-referenced aesthetics that appears magical and make us feel "special" and "sophisticated".

So I would say that, yes, the idiot-proof UI made all this possoble for every individual, including really dumb and/or IT iliterate people - but the seductive dimension, responsible for desire for those devices - is this smooth-sliding eye-candy, which Apple uses for a long time as their main attribute.

You can put everything top-notch in Nokia's Symbian, but if you fail to deliver this Apple-made aestethics which is called UI experience, you are doomed.

People actually don't care about possibilities or consuming any content (beyond texting, games and social networking). They mostly want to have it only as an excuse to slide it with their fingers (and show in bars and streets that they are doing that on an iPhone). So much for our super-sophisticated society.

AnonD-9023, 06 Aug 2011If whatever u said is true , why would many fortune 500 com... moreDon't get me wrong, I understand why people buy Apple products, I also see why companies are adopting them in favor of Nokia which used to be the norm (Brand continuity, service, reliability of user experience, ease of use, profitable business solutions).

There is a simple reason Apple products do well on the consumer market. Not too long ago, technology was not as user friendly as it is today. In Nokia's golden age, so to speak, a Windows PC was the cause of frustration everywhere but everyone had one - there really was no alternative. Technology was there to be used, and as the average consumer you'd just pray it would keep working. Apple used this to their advantage by making the user 'feel in control' of their device. The options are easily accessible, the features useable and if it goes wrong, there is always some kind of help available or the OS solves it for you (visibly or in the background). Look at the difference between todays' Windows 7 and Windows 95. Today, you're being led through every process with extensive tooltips, pointers, hints and tips and so on.

The fact that many people can use a device, does however not mean it is the 'best' device and it also does not mean we should all want one. In fact, this is dangerous, because it slows down the progress on the consumer market - it becomes less pressing to develop new technology if the masses are happy with what they have. Also, key developments are halted or slowed down, or put 'in the fridge' because they are no longer profitable or because 'the user doesn't really need them'. Sound familiar?
