Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 caught in another benchmark, 16:10 screen confirmed

It does look like the company's ready to give up on the 4:3 form factor used in the Tab S3.

I've already said that tab s3 costs less than almost all flagships. 500$ is like costing an arm and a leg for you? At 500$ it is much more than half of your phone: high end chipset, s pen, big display which is amond the best, decent camera, stereo speakers. That price seems decent to me for all of what I get. I won't mind a last gen high end chipset because for that proce they obviously have to cut corners.

      Would be better if they discontinue this product.

      And use the screen to make a docking station for S9. So you can toggle between tablet mode / dex mode with keyboard mouse combo.

      But i guess Padfone patented it..

            Useful aspect ratio, more battery life despite having a larger screen and being lighter.
            Incomparably faster in day to day function despite using SD 810 and only 3GB of RAM. I still don't know how Sony did.

            Oh and do you know the best of it all? It came in 2015 ... yeah that's how bad android tablets are. The best tablet in both experience and metrics is from 2015... Too silly of them to ignore a market that moves more units than laptops each year consistently and leave all the sweet profits to Apple.

            People prefer them over other medium sized devices but companies *still* haven't capitalized on it (only Apple did). I suspect it's all Google's fault for pushing that awful OS named Chrome OS, keeping Android on tablets back on purpose. I mean it's 7 years already, they could had added a bunch of optimization in user experience and they never did ... it sounds fishy (at best).

            Once Chrome OS dies (hopefully soon) the android tablet market would explode. As there would be no alternative from Google, and google would be forced to turn android into a decent OS for tablets (it still is, but needs muuuuch tayloring from the user).

              I've tried many android tablet, and the Galaxy S3, is by far the best.
              This coming from a guy that doesn't even like Samsung phones or buy them, means a lot.
              If you want a solid android tablet go with Samsung, much better than the pixel.

                Anonymous, 22 Feb 2018If you believe that storage is that cheap then you're clear... morewhile memory and flash storage costs are up right now which I'm completely aware of considering the demand, also I'm after more memory for one of my machines at home, the mass production cost is still lower than buying third party considering Sammy develops their own flash storage and can reserve that for their devices, I don't need to mention what that means for device costs to make up for that revenue since you're probably going to delve into that next, or how costs go for materials, production, freight, storage, implementation etc, and I already said that expandable storage doesn't count in this instance considering it's just an empty slot and how expensive the device already is compared to phones with double to quadruple the storage.

                As for price to performance, again I think you missed the point, I'm comparing the price to phones since they utilize the same technology, not other tablets since most other ones are so low end that they're not even worth considering, also usually running with mediatek processors. There's still the odd one out there of course such as the Huawei ones utilizing their Kirin processors, but the options for anything that costs a good price for something comparable to a phone of the same price is severely lacking unless you're interested in the low end market. The fact that there is a high end one is nice, but the price isn't. You don't need to mention the cost of an Oled screen or any of these other parts which you imply I'm oblivious to, I think the bigger picture for Sammy is that there's not much competition on the Android side of tablets, so they can charge an arm and a leg for a high end tablet with half the specs of a phone at the same price, so they can milk it as much as they like. I'm not a fan of apple, and while I don't think I'd ever have any reason to buy one of their devices, their tablets are certainly better priced and more compelling for what you get as stock, unless of course you count their lack of modability in the software department and that you're buying into a throwaway device, also like you said they only suit certain people for lack of a better word.

                  I really love android, but something about android on tablets is clunky and kind of crappy to me. my setup is android phone, ipad for tablet and windows pc.

                    I would have preferred to see the SD845, but with a 16:10 ratio and a 10.5” screen, this may be my new tablet. I mainly use a tablet for video media consumption in landscape mode and greatly prefer 16:9 or 16:10 for that reason, as opposed to 4:3 tablets which are better suited for reading in portrait mode.

To add to that, every Samsung tablet has a micro sd slot. Also, tablet market isn't lacking in price to performance area. It is lacking high end area. You can see hundreds of cheap weak tablets, but Samsung is the only one which offers high end choices (if we exclude ipads, because they only suit certain types of people). You want a flagship grade tablet which costs like a budget smartphone. That is never going to happen.

Second, t... moreYou're completely missing the point, they're both capable of the same things but yes they are different in their intended uses though not by much, also I addressed the Oled display as the only redeemable feature, I'm completely aware of the costs for them which is precisely why I mentioned them. Part of the reason not many are buying tablets is because what's on offer is just not worth it when compared to phones, the 32 gigs of rom is worth a few dollars and same with the other basic features. I'm aware of the problems that come with it, but that doesn't change the fact that the tablet market is severely lacking in the price to performance area.. a significantly larger device with significantly less in it.

                              I only buy android tablets. The other two are too constained (iOS is a jail, Microsoft is running legacy hardware, it's often heavy, running a legacy environment).

                              You do know that androids are fully customizable and you can fix anything you don't like , right? Like for example the lack of gesture support (best way to navigate a tablet screen).

                              As for Chrome OS , it's the reason why Google gave up on making android tablet properly optimized from the get go. They want to push their locked down OS, which is horrible. Better stay away from that cancer. Just run Remix OS if you dig the looks...

Maybe your clunkyness came from using a low end android tablet. Personally, I couldn't live with IOS. I believe that it is limited and much more empty than android. How is that a better experience? I could live with windows because it isn't fully suited for tablets. Chrome OS is ok, but in my experience It looks like it is much better suited for use with keyboard and mouse.

Second, tablets are not smartphones. They both have their own uses. Third, you are undervaluing the costs of these displays. Fourth, the demand for tablets is much lower than for smartphones and they want to make profit. You wouldn't start a business if you could only earn cents from it, would you? Fifth, I believe that many things in Australia cost more than in other parts of the world. Average countries have decent prices of around 500 euros. You can barely get a flagship phone for that much and even then they have some corners cut.
                                  Considering that there are no high end tablets like this, this is much better than having nothing to choose from.
                                  You are free to keep using your phone as a "tablet", but these things are in different leagues and again, they serve different purposes.

                                    I have a Galaxy Tab S2 (SD652 version) and I considered it doesn't worth it to get a Tab S3. I'll wait for this tab to lower its price and I'll buy it. I consider tablets very useful, specially in my line of work.

                                      Yet another tablet from Sammy with the last generations flagship from qualcomm, a poxy 4 gigs memory and 64 gigs rom.. The only redeemable feature of this thing is the oled display considering it'll cost an arm and a leg, may as well just buy a decent phone with extra memory and twice the storage for half the price from Xiaomi or something.. I can't believe the S3 with 32 gigs costs $750 on average in Australia.. Yet another example of paying more for less, expandable memory doesn't count as a justification considering the options out there.

                                        Android is great on phones, but on tablets, it's absolutely horrible... Forget 3rd Party App optimization, the OS itself seems clunky and out of place on any display over 8". I would rather take iOS or Windows 10 or even Chrome OS on larger displays than Android.
