Phone May work/look good but if you get any problems, especially network problems in phone, the service after sales is very worst especially in Bangalore. I have faced same issue with Xperia SOLA model and I had to go around consumer forum to get my money back.Sony never cares about after sales services.

i think the previous design is better (except the huge bezels). they should use the previous design but with reduced bezels, keep the earphone hole, add wireless charging, and use oled.

Seeing this design I think Sony should sell their mobile division. What a pathetic design by the designers at Sony. Expected a great design from them. Even Samsung, Vivo, Xiaomi is better at copying designs and implementing them, forget bezel less device I thought they designed a look-alike of Nokia.

Sony should stick to 4.7" screen for the compact and make a smaller body with 18:9 aspect ratio. There are people who love small phones and the compact line is where we look at. I've been a sony fan since sony-ericsson but they're always playing catching up.
Comeon sony.. you can do better or be the best if you want. I'm starting to loose hope sorry.

Curvy backside (polycarb on the compact) and the camera placement screams LUMIA! Nothing groundbreaking here for me, just downgrades.
Mr. Mobile might be disappointed.

They improved light sensitivity - lens aperture is f/2.2 against f/2.4 in XZ1 Compact. But it was effectively killed with smaller sensor - 1/5'' to 1/4'' of XZ1 Compact. So not an upgrade, not a downgrade.

Compact is a total flop. Mediocre budget design, 12 mm fatso, yet battery is low capacity, rear camera didn't improve, still low dark f/2.0 lens, downgrade to IP65, large bezels, no round corner display, still no JOLED, plastic...
They should cancel it. And switch to XZ3 as fast as possible, fixing all issues. In other way. Compact series would be effectively dead.
It should be 129x65 maximum and 7 mm thin maximum.
It should have flat sides, so you can hold it in your hand.
It should have 5'' display and should finally have JOLED.
It should have f/1.6 lens.
It should be water-proof IP68, not water-resistant IP65.

With that said the design is shit and an htc rip off only thicker at 11.1mm with no headphone jack. Now that's unforgivable

I have wait for the new compact but the x compact and the xz2 compact that is nothing the x is not a flagship and the xz2 compact is not a compact 5" display ok but bazeless better was the 4,7" bazeless than wee have a compact phone but not with this Dimensions 135 x 65 x 12.1 mm and 168g that is a brick

I have been an fan of Sony since growing up with the PS and PS2. I have always loved their tech from TV's, mp3 players, handheld consoles, tablets, & ect, but I am very disappointed in this redesign. As seen on other comments, I was willing to compromise with the 18:9 ratio and fingerprint placement (even though on the bigger one it's dead center on the back which is gonna be hard to maneuver for one hand use). But the design and headphone jack is the deal breaker for me. How is the Remote Play accessory going to fair holding this new device??? How can you justify an adaptor as a way to plug in 3.5 mm jacks??? I always knew Sony paved the way for popular phones today. Glass sandwich design, water and dust IP Certification, Stereo Speakers, & now Slow Mo camera, but to purposely adopt trends from manufactures shows that you're no different than any other smartphone company. Hopefully Sony can come up with something other than this POS to prevent true Sony fans in the bag.
