Sony Xperia XZ2 image and specs leak ahead of Monday's unveiling

23 February 2018
The flagship line gets a new design language to match its new 18:9 screen. The super slow-motion camera is getting an upgrade too.

Well, apart the bad news of removing the 3.5mm jack (unfortunately). But everything else sounds definitely positive. It will be really important for Sony to switch for the new 18:9 ratio. We'll see.

Love Sony (only build of Android that is snappy and sexy looking on even their mid range phones), but this one looks exactly like my Note 8, the top and bottom bezel, the top speaker and camera and so on. Pity they are not introducing a more original design, instead of trying to be 'me to' like Apple or Samsung designs.

Oppaii, 23 Feb 2018This is why i’m a fan, Sony is really trying hard not to lo... moreThe phone looks just like any of the HTC U phones though? The main difference being the ugly fingerprint scanner location

I know people have been asking for design changes but this phone is just plain ugly, looks like a bath tub shape and has horrible camera and fingerprint scanner locations

Why not just give it a bezelless screen?

Faizal Firdaus, 23 Feb 2018The design seems OK. But still I find many things lacking... moreThere's stereo on the compact if you read from the source

"“S Force” stereo speakers adorn the front face of the phones, and XZ2 (but not Compact) supplements the audio with a haptic feedback system that syncs up vibrations to the sound."

who posted this article didn't translate well enough from the linked source.. see there and you'll see that the xz2 compact is missing just the (useless) vibration sound system, not also the stereo speakers! come on guys.. how could it be? (xz1c has them)

btw i appreciate smaller bezels, if they keep the xz1c dimensions and put a 5" screen inside that's perfect for me, really hope so.. but those curved edges.. what disappointing! hate them! would have preferred flat edges all the life. well let's see the final specs.. if the fm radio is back and camera compartment improved, may well be my next phone! crossed fingers :)

It looks like one more drop of water in the ocean of Chinese phones like this one. He has lost his personality. The rear sensor seems to be in an awkward position. Where is the Sony audio jack? Does the back appear curved? What a bug, a copy of the Nokia-HMD with HTC mix and battery lower than many of the competition.

In behalf of my fellow fans, i’m here to say sorry since we're taking the comment section filled with some cringyness.

Completely garbage, design is rip off of HTC, no 3.5mm Jack another poor year coming for Sony for sure

Anonymous, 23 Feb 2018Ugly phone. That camera placement is horrible, it should... moreIt looks nice with a HTC glass back. Shame there wasn't smaller version of XZ premium, instead they used premium-less metal on XZ and XZ1 and compacts series.

This is why i’m a fan, Sony is really trying hard not to look like any other phones out there.
I’m that kind of person who will choose uniqueness over trend. but i hope sony won’t disappoint, like what they did with Xperia XZ1.

For me, I didn't like the design, it doesn't seem original Sony, I'd prefer the old side finger scanner and traditional back camera location more than this ugly arrangement of finger scanner and back camera location.
                            I'd buy xz1 compact, I hope.

Design wise... Nope! F1. 8 lets see then. 1080p 920fps yup thats cool now its useful. Samsung so farrr behind..

XtremE16, 23 Feb 2018Hahahah... Wait n watch... Open your eyes and see specifica... moreLol specs. Sony can't transform specs into reliability and they have proven their inefficiency the last couple or so years now.

Now it just looks like a nokia phone. Sony has fallen into the hypocrite tier.

It's looks like a rebranded chinese phone. The position of the fingerprint sensor seems not comfortable and too low. Sadly they removed the side sensor, which was a lot better and removed the audio jack too. The back is strange, they are avoiding to show the shape, probably like expeted it'll have a bathtub shape. Not for me this time, i refuse to buy something like that.

The wireless charging I can live without, but the removal of stereo speakers is a severe disappointment.
