Nokia N9 release countdown pulled down from the website

08 August, 2011
Is it just a faulty counter? Or has Nokia changed the launch date for good or for worse?

Fongy, 09 Aug 2011LOL Nothing brings out the 'fanboyism' quite like a Nokia ... moreYou might think the WP7 to be grossly overpriced, but IMO: it beats all the other OS (edging out Meego) with it's sleek and badass UI experience. You should give Mango an honest try, it's awesome. An X7 with WP7 is the definition for Egoistic Envy.

      LOL
Nothing brings out the 'fanboyism' quite like a Nokia article!!
In all fairness...and trying to play devil's advocate..
It's a tough one to call...
You can clearly see that Nokia are still capable of creating fantastically designed phones (N9 and in particular X7 I'm looking at you)
But it's also pretty clear that for whatever reason (and I've had a few Nokias in my time) Symbian has last its appeal / edge / functionality - but more importantly I suspect it's lost developer support..
Meego indeed has been getting good reviews and Nokia themselves have said they'll support it for a couple of years...
      BUT
Phones have changed so much - people are more interested in apps - after all this is what keeps a phone fresh...
And if no-one is supporting meego / symbian with apps - then these phones are severely limited in functionality....
And this, I suspect is why people are wanting Android on Nokia..
I personally love Android - but if Nokia created an X7 lookalike with GS2 specs - I know I'd buy it...
The problem with WM7 is it's just a bit too restrictive and games, etc are grossly overpriced...
I do hope that Nokia is the "go-to" company for people who want a Windows phone - but to be honest, with the GS2 windows variant just around the corner and reports that Nokia's first few efforts aren't going to be that great specs-wise... I think they're really going to struggle...

People are talking about how great is Android...But they cant understand that they are all in a trap...
Android begins from 1,5V and almost every month the OS gets an update...then after 6 months your phone is nothing and you have to buy a more expensive new one...There is a lot to say but this is enough...

i think nokia should continue using symbian on their smartphones for the masses. Symbian belle update for nokia n8 looks great. If they kill symbian, will remain s40 dumbphones and highly priced windows phones >> android is a winner

I'm android fan, and also I'm not against Nokia. Earlier to 2007, Nokia devices use to have a great hardware. The hardware(except Camera) is not that good after that. Now I see the device N9 is having a great CPU and other hardware parts.......... I would be very happy if they have introduced Android, but BS OS with it. OMG....

May be MEEGOO is better than Android but the problem is NOKIA is still been rulled by narrow minded persons which has -10.00 degrees myopia and they can't even see clearly 50cm distance...I'm afraid they are tooo late to fight against Android and IOS....we will see...

Don't forget that Nokia still has a MASSIVE fan base (not necessarily US) and unlike the N8 with its S^3, the N9 with Meego will drop like a bomb.

I'm an Android fanboy, with some Apple fanboyism still in me, but when the N9 comes out, I'm buying it, no doubt about that.

I really dolnt understand people, who dont understand, that android is by far the most developed OS for smartphones out there and open source and not controlled like in an oligarchy and because all that consumes resources, it can lag from time to time, like on a PC and if iOS wants to keep up for much longer, it will sooner or later lag too, even though its controlled. And when the iPhone will get true multitasking, it will be really bad for iOS. Wanna see, how they will make up for those loses.

And to the N9, people wait a bit, its the first true MEEGO phone and actually Nokia is pretty wise to wait a bit longer, because look at most phones, which came way tooooooooo early and were buggy as hell for that reason. Nokia only tries to prevent their (maybe rescuer) from such bugs, they want to deliver a full smartphone, that fully works !PERIOD!

Considering how much hype and riot the N9 produced, there's no way this Meego device is getting eclipsed. In fact it'll be the top zenith of smartphones on September (probably).

i've always used nokias. First 5150,5160..or whatever those were...the ones with a big antenna and irda port at the top...then 5230,5230i,6260...and then i had to chose between a n900 and this n97...of course at the same time there were a whole bunch of androids for the same price...but i had no clue what android was..i thought i must be some cheap joke like system like the one on blackberrys..so all i knew was iOS and symbian...so i went for the obvious flagship in my budget...the n97. BIG PLIPPING MISTAKE...a few days later i found out that n97 isnt a flagship but actually a bug infested ship that sank at its maiden woyage...fuck...i could have had a whole bunch of fast androids in the same price range of my second hand n97. Then i see all the happy n8 users being told to f off cause theyr os is discontinued after a few months, i see symbian anna and belle and v3 beying in the dumpster...not to mention the s60...goddamned nokia. WHY would anyone in history ever spend money on one of your phones only to have a million bugs, power failures, restarts, low memory errors, lens protector scratching the lens wtf, and the os beying dumped. Never again. I'll use this n97 until i get money for an optimus 3D, or until it breaks. They should have made symbian open source since they dumped...but they probably wanted to avoid the shame of noone wanting it even for free.
