So far, Android is the best OS in the market. But iOS ranks 2nd though Apple is pretty much working on it. I believe Windows7 will take far as well. Not familiar with Meego though.
Which has the best dual-core handset?
HTC - Samsung - LG ??

AnonD-171, 11 Aug 2011it's still adding to the global marketshare of linux XD no... moreFor someone telling me i'm a noob you sure are a much bigger noob.
It doesn't add to global market share of linux you noob. Most analyst list android and webOS and symbian as their own category and only few analyst even categorize these mobile OS as "linux based".
ROFL so because linux is free most people will buy and strip the currently installed OS? Funny how you keep touting these figures yet current market share indicates Linux as only ~1.7% of global desktop market shares not including servers, Apple global market share at ~16% and Microsoft at ~80% market share.
Obviously you're not very bright, Microsoft nor Apple do not lose any money when someone buys a laptop or a desktop with Mac OSX/Windows 7 and strips it. When you buy a laptop or a desktop you've already paid for the OS license, so Microsoft or Apple has already made money off of your share for the OS, but I feel this business model may be too complex for you to comprehend.
So again, where is the hurt you speak of? Microsoft and Apple both posted spectacular financial reports, Microsoft profits and revenues are from Windows 7 though, not Windows Phone 7.

Sails, 11 Aug 2011I really like WP7 basic concept, but the earlier versions w... moreAndroid has supported multitasking since day 1. Copy and paste was also there, so how exactly does "mango" which is would be release almost 1 year from WP7 launch be any different from Eclair which is also released around the same time frame? Why shouldn't we look to Q3 results? Q3 is when most large mobile manufacturers release new phones vs Q4 is black friday/christmas/etc sales and almost every brand is guaranteed a boost vs the previous quarter?

AnonD-10946, 11 Aug 2011Well if it isn't Sun Down! Should I be calling you Sun Down... moreI really like WP7 basic concept, but the earlier versions were missing lots of important features like multitasking, custom ringtones etc.
Mango fixes the biggest problems and makes it a viable alternative. If you compare this to the first versions of Android, Mango is definitely doing better.
Wouldn't it make a better sense to wait till Q4 results before making judgement on WP7? Mango and Nokia effects won't affect Q3 results so I really don't see your point.

AnonD-10946, 11 Aug 2011So many things wrong with this statement I don't even know ... moreit's still adding to the global marketshare of linux XD noob
and linux is doing a damn good job of taking MSs and Apples customers
Linux is free so most would build their own computers and bye a laptop and strip the OS and install a free one so they don't have to spend 400 dollars on an OS or spend 1000+ dollars on an effecient OS run laptop/Desktop
so every laptop that is bought and stripped MSFT looses money and marketshare same with Apple

Sun Down, 11 Aug 2011+1. Oh, Nokia did state that they were gonna support Meego.... moreWell if it isn't Sun Down! Should I be calling you Sun Down or "Mike", gonna post as "Mike" to help back yourself up again?
Personally I like the initial Windows Phone 7 concept Nokia released(the ones pictured originally) versus the Sea Ray. It actually showed a nice back design and was actually refreshing where as the Sea Ray and N9 looked like an overblown Ipod Shuffle with a screen placed on it.
I'm still skeptical that WP7 will even make any dent as they're seeing a decline still, lets wait for Q3 results so we can hammer the last nail on the coffin.
Also why do MS/Nokia Fanboys keep touting mango as a savior? From what reviews have said although Mango is a "refresh" of the original WP7 experience it still lacks anything making it worth while.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/24/windows-phone-mango-and-bing-vision-hands-on/ read the conclusion of engadet's review.

[deleted post]So many things wrong with this statement I don't even know where to begin....
Obviously you don't keep track with financial statements, Microsoft reported a huge profit/revenue so obviously linux isn't hurting Microsoft.
You actually believe that Windows 8 is due to linux as a threat? You're severely naive, the reason why Microsoft is making Windows 8 a multi-platform OS is simply due to potential revenue and profits. Tablets and ARM based devices are on the incline and in the future will over shadow x86 architecture based processors. It would be stupid for Microsoft to not tap into this potential revenue.
Funny how you relate Linux to being successful, Linux itself is not successful, Android is. Even funnier that because Android is successful you relate MeeGo to be successful and a threat, last time I checked Symbian was linux based as well, look where its at now, so if you want to link MeegO you can probably link it to the same fate as MeeGo. You almost might want to take note that Android and MeeGo would be direct competitors and why would people go for MeeGo when Android is the real deal?
Sure, MeeGo has potential, with big companies such as Intel and AMD backing up MeeGO and with AMD's reported rumor of getting into the mobile device market as well hopefully it'll be better than Intel's venture into mobile processing.

Sun Down, 11 Aug 2011+1. Oh, Nokia did state that they were gonna support Meego.... moreWhile I am all for N9 and waiting to buy it. I'll take with a grain of salt what Nokia said about supporting Meego. I mean where is Symbian Anna for all the N8, C7, E7, C6-01 users?? So you see how bad their "support" can be.

AnonD-1131, 11 Aug 2011I would rather see Nokia go down fighting with WP7 rather t... moreI'm inclined to agree with you. I haven't seen anything about WP7 that makes me think its a horrible OS. I think it looks great and from what I've heard its a great performer. That mixed with Nokia's awesome hardware (and hopefully a WP7 device with the same camera as the N8) may turn many heads indeed. WP7 is from a strong company, unlike Symbian that many people consider a dead OS. I have no problems with Symbian but its not holding its own and losing share drastically. WP7 just seems too young to really judge yet. As for the N9 and Meego... it looks great but I keep hearing Nokia doesn't really plan to support it either. So if they are going with Windows as their primary and future OS - wish them luck. Maybe I'll own one someday.

I say Nokia been the mobile giant for years and they have the potential to succeed, I also think they'll have a pretty strong come back and they have one shot at it or it's game over.

Anonymous, 10 Aug 2011You sir have no idea what MeeGo is.
FYI, LG is already ... moreWhen I see more Meego phones around I will change my point of view.....but for now LG is just a RUMOR and this can be developed until Q4 2012, so, no more Meego phones for NOW...
Are more phones for WP7 than Meego by the way. Remeber Meego OS IS JUST A PROJECT, Linux is even not that sucessful in Desktop, and there is no guarantee suceed on Mobile either with Meego.
Meego devices are just a Dream, If Nokia fails with Meego do you really believe others will adopted?
Meego is a fail from start, was a good idea about 3 or 4 years, for now will be very very difficult for Meego even share Market with Android, iOS and WP7.
Why do you think Meego took so much time to be released (and by the way in only 1 device)? :P
And as I said before even BB OS has more chances.....
