Anonymous, 12 Aug 2011What does "carrier-centric nature" mean?By carrier centric they mean that the carriers control the US mobile market. For example, up until recently if you wanted an iPhone you could only get one from AT&T, XYZ phone from Verizon, etc. In other markets (I'm from Australia), the phone manufacturers and customers control the market, in the sense that you can get the majority of phones from any provider you wish.

Elop really does need to be sacked. He's taking way to many risks by placing all his bet's on a single OS.
Nokia may be saving there best new products for there most loyal consumers. These consumers live in markets where there's almost zero post sale costs. Thus being a great place to launch all new prodcts.

it's hilarious as, the first interesting nokia device since 3 years, will be sold only in few countries.
I suppose is some Microsoft imposition, they are afraid
this could compete with their Nokia/W7 phones
and steal market
i estimate (time will tell) that, if Nokia hopes to survive selling only Windows 7 phones,
is better their employees to already start looking for a new job
as Nokia won't survive long:)

n97 user, 12 Aug 2011Hahaha X 1 million.
How come every flsgship starting with ... moreUntil the Android phone shatters/spoilt/broken in less than 1.5 years. If the Taiwanese brand, even worse. The Nokia phones I've had lasted more than 3 years(average=5 years) under the same conditions, some people appreciate durability.
And no, they were and are not buggy, at least not the E series. So, it's either I got lucky all these years or as a certain Asian saying goes, have good 'fate' with Nokia.
The good 'fate' continues with N9 coming to my country. You all Westerners can enjoy your latest & greatest Iphone, Android phones.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2011Yehey! N9 is coming to the Philippines! :)Surely, Nokia still has a good market holding in the Philippines that's why we will not miss this flagship unit. But until when? After Filipinos realize that other brands offer more entertnmnt features than Nokia. Com'on Nokia, do something on your applications support.

There are a lot of things that the N9 will not be able to do on the first release. For example, no Radio. You will be disappointed. Some functionality will be added in the form of updates.

WTF ? You know what i dont kame a million euros an hour, i cant aford to spend money on nokia phones that are buggy, have power failures, lens covers that scratch the lens theyr supposed to protect rolf, and then get discontinued over night...wft ? why spend money on that ? i'll get an android , it get updates, it works. that's all that matters.

N9 and WP7 are the means of confrontation of Elop/CEO and Nokia staffs.
Nokia staffs will try their best to show Elop that N9/Meego is the one Nokia stick to.
In result, N9 will come out as very good device with very good hardware, software and support.
