BlackBerry only sold 850,000 phones last year, exec declares "mission accomplished" even so

26 February 2018
While that number is very low, for the future BlackBerry aims to cover 3 to 5% of the smartphone market.

AnonD-450057, 05 Apr 2018so it better to have less options? Quality over quantity I guess. The market is pretty flooded already.

        Too expensive Chinese copies!

Anonymous, 26 Feb 2018Haha, just die. HTC and Sony after you (maybe fake Noki... moreAgreed!

          BlackBerry
          Alcatel
          Motorola
          Nokia
          Sony
          HTC

And not because their products are bad, but man do these companies rely on their past achievements and brand recognition to justify their existince in this day and age without being significant to any market space they occupy which makes their repeated lack of providing anything in the way of groundbreaking or buzzworthy a constant source of disappointment and frustration (to me personally).

If they reduced the price...it would do better. Looking forward to a KeyTwo with a more capable processor.

BlackBerry is rubbish brand. They devices so expensive comparing to competition with similar specs. They tell you that it's BB security and other BS, but their phones are manufactured by cheap Taiwanese factories which makes it worth maybe 20 percent for what they sell

Oh, you mean the brickabrac same ol' same ol' that permeates the market. Pretty much every phone looks the same, has virtually the same functionality - just pick your brand and say "Yay!". Even Sony has now joined the boring design that Samsung and Apple created. About the only variation comes from Nokia, but even that is a retro phone. Personally, if Blackberry/TCL comes up with a full screen and pkb I'll look at it because it's far easier for me to use a pkb than a vkb.

                    Mission Accomplished.
Score worse than any Smartphone brand.

Wow, I really did not expect such a big number for a "dying brand".
Not bad, not bad at all.

If Blackberry can develop premium Enterprise DEVICE within the $400 Mark, create good ads, and stick to Max 2 new phones per year, they can come back and give Samsung/Apple a Chase for Enterprise phone users.

Ryan7646, 26 Feb 2018Well the pricing sucks. This explains Alcatel's dismal sale... moreThe reason bb device priced high is because bb want lots of profit.

This is the main reason, this won't work, and Alcatel should ditch bb and focus on their own brand

They overprice bad products and rabid fans buy them anyway. If they die we may get new and exciting companies in their place.

If free markets worked completely , those companies would of been long dead. Sorry but no excuses ... I mean blackberry had the chance of creating a proper smartphone by virtue of being the leader of the market and instead they created more of the same, trying to get the whole world down with them in the underworld.

They still show signs of life, a good beating in the head would stop those as well. Just don't buy bad products. Let bad ideas die!
