Reading all the comments here it looks like nobody has seen or used WP7 yet... Try it and the whole argument is going to be different... It is simple, fast and very user friendly yet innovative... Im still stuck with Symbian though :p

AnonD-1131, 12 Aug 2011You need to look beyond the geek community and ask yourself... morealthough I agree with your first two paragraphs, I'm much less sure about the last. wp7 has a long geneology of failure. they produced products that claimed to be able to do everything but were so unwieldy to use they could do nothing. I've being trying them and cursing them for more than a decade... how's WP7 going to reverse this history? They seem to be trying to Lower consumer expectations by removing a standard for easy to use in s40. By forcing all owner to own personal PC's to interface with there device, there killing off about 1/2 of the american market.

nokia is blind. It wanders from wall to wall just hoping to find a door...all in vain. Aim for symbian fail, aim for anna fail, aim for belle fail, aim to meego fail, try wp7 another fail soon enough....and all this time the real target was in plain view android.

AnonD-4697, 12 Aug 2011That's because no body cares about Meego, US are the bigges... moreI mean, clearly, have you even read the previous N9 article? It states that NOKIA WAS PLEASED WITH THE INTEREST MEEGO WAS GETTING. Go read the article and you'll see that Nokrisoft is just trying to keep Meego out because they know it'll outdo WP7 in EVERY market. I mean it cant get any clearer, Nokrisoft are mad that MEEGO built WAAYYYY more Hype than their precious WP7. :P

MEEGO BEST OS, 12 Aug 2011I mean, clearly, have you even read the previous N9 article... moreYou need to look beyond the geek community and ask yourself if a good and brand new OS is enough to take on established platforms like Android and iOS. Nobody knows what MeeGo is outside the geek community and if you think that the very vocal minority of geeks online represents a huge number then you are sadly mistaken.
WebOS is a great example of a good OS that failed to take on the two established and entrenched dominant platforms, Android and iOS. Palm's fans were very vocal and hyped WebOS and the OS received very positive reviews, much like MeeGo, from blogsites across the web yet it failed to get traction. Those said fans were treated to a rude awakening that they are a minority and the general public didn't care about WebOS no matter how good it was. The low number of apps developed for WebOS also contributed to its demise.
I know you're going to point out that WP currently have a tiny marketshare but you have to realize that WP is backed by MS. The software giant is here to play a marathon and not a sprint. Their strategy here is the same strategy they employed on the XBOX and now, they are at the top with the 360. WP7's marketshare is tiny ATM but that's because it's missing a lot of features found on other platforms. However, WP7 Mango is about to change the fate of WP and will bring the much needed features that were missing. Add to that the MS authorized jailbreak of the Chevron dev team and WP7 is going to be great contender.

Nokia shld retain Meego n develop it further as it is their own home-brewed truly modern OS as security n assurance 4themselves rather than all focus on WP7 which is 3rd party OS n there's risk. They r so wrong when said ther's no option anymore other than WP7. They shld hv made smooth transition frm Symbian to Meego much earlier instead, while develop w/ WP7. Unless all what they hv decided now r just to 'please' Microsoft...
