It's very sad see that Nokia is really leaving Symbian behind. I like my Symbiam^3 device (N8). With this decision, the offer o apps to Symbiam will decrease at others markets (Brazil in my case).
The coming Symbian Belle looks really amazing! Why not to offer this version to US market?
Nokia, wake up!

MEEGO BEST OS, 11 Aug 2011@ the boy with the red hat (linux) Well, well, well. Now i... moreThat's because no body cares about Meego, US are the biggest market in the world and Nokia know there will be no good sales for it.

I still believe N9 with Meegos is just a BIG MISTAKE, maybe even Symbian BELLE or ANNA had a chance to keep N9 alive, but Meego :(

However like I said there is eBay...so no big deal if someone want one of these piece of "future vintage"

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2011It saddens me that Nokia has decided to eventually pull its... morejust remember this which i keep telling everyone SOFTWARE CAN ALWAYS BE CHANGED AND IMPROVED since it's code it's not physically there but hardware needs a full change and

what nokia should and need too do ASAP is make symbian soo efficient that no one can say anything to them and same with Meego

Not having a feature phone in the US market is a dubious decision at best. It's sad to see Nokia self destruct.

meego is universal praised ... let's restrict it from markets where applications will be built for it. that way it will fail for sure.

          we have a loyal following of S40 users ... let's force them to s60 ... that didn't work ... let's force them WP7 ...

These decisions being made in a fantasy world!!!!!! xman

It saddens me that Nokia has decided to eventually pull its Symbian line up from the US. I have an N8 and love it! But its not the software that I am in love with... its the CAMERA!!! If Nokia can introduce another 12mp Carl Zeiss snapper in a Windows Phone 7 device - I will most assuredly buy one. WP7 doesn't look as bad as the anti-Microsoft crowd says. Every video I've seen of it its running smoothly... it looks GREAT.. seems easy to use, etc etc. So I have no reason to be against it. Symbian is usable but... well.. boring! Its lost is edge. So if this is what Nokia has decided... then bring on Windows Phone 7 with a 12mp snapper!!!

                  What if their decision fail?
There is no alternative plan to stay in business.
                  How sad that would be.

ho cares about anericans ..... nokia should make wp7(almost) OS phones for them and for rest of us (europeans ) should make symbian and meego smartphones .....and we all know that americans loves the androids an apples devices (built in america) so Nokia should focus on europe.....just forget about north america(or give them wp7 'almost' os phones) because south america loves symbian....

Whatever with the USA! They never care about anything but Apple, and more apple, and more apple, that's it.. apple, apple, blacbkerry apple and R.I.P. to anything else trying to break out!

GO NOKIA! I still support the brand very much! I love Nokia..

Wow Nokia is realy on the path to self destruction in the US and UK.First no N9 now they pull out the symbian and s40 phones(wich aparentely alot of people still use)
What if WP7 does not work what then? Will they re introduce Symbian and the N9 on those markets?I think this is a realy dumb move by Nokia they should have preventive measures in case wp7 does not work

This is so unfortunate. I'm not gonna speak for everyone coz it seems there's a lot of folks who think droid is the best thing that ever happened. Be careful what you wish for.
In my opinion, loosing Symbian is a big, big mistake. I believe, in future, people will look back to the days of Symbian and wish they could have it again. You people have no idea what's coming.

Anonymous, 11 Aug 2011Personally blame the fanboys. Fanboys could never see what ... moreI never liked Symbian and S60, but S40 is a very good OS for feature phones. After all, most people talks and send sms and rely on a good old phone.

As a sole-proprieter business man, i hv always chose Nokia symbian wif qwerty keypad n non-touchscreen. I find them to be very useful especially the search function. It can search almost anything which i use most to search messages, txt files content n even call log! I dun need BB massenger. To me, Nokia symbian wif keypad is stil relevant. W/o dat, my biz bcum chaos.
However, i hv a GS2 as a casual phone for personal line. The best thing is, i no need to que up to buy it; n i can sync files btw them effortlessly. I dun fancy Apple...

Well Nokias has been down from some time in the US, now is confirmed..

No more Nokias for Americans (or no more cheap Nokias)

Too bad but Nokia has their reputation here and not was good indeed...

Well, well, well. Now isnt everything lining up just like I said. Elop, Balmer and crew are upset that hardly nobody wants WP7 so they're getting rid of the competition in the US and North America at least to try to force people to buy WP7 (which most consumers dont want). People are ready to import The N9 with Meego but people in the country that WP7 is made, don't even want WP7. Told you this was what they were doing but you said "Oh Puhlease". Now there is evidence backing up my claim in the form of these last 2 Nokia related articles. Nokrasoft doesn't want Meego to outsell WP7 which they know it would which is why they are keeping it away from highly potential buying countries while trying to force WP7 (that hardly nobody even US and North American citizens want) down everybody's throats.
