We've decided to do a quick shootout between the two flagships while we are still in Barcelona.

It seems like they focused around the camera, but the improvements aren't that large. Sure, it's a good camera, but I wouldn't say the S7/S8 were noticeably worse. I wish they finally stepped up the sensor size. The lower aperture helps, but that's a fairly small change, that also sacrifices the field of view to get slightly more light in.

They need to test it against the best camera, Pixel 2/2XL not an iPhone X...

I actually prefer the iPhone X to be honest.
It’s more reel and true to life.
It should be better raw to.
I’m really looking forward to the Nokia Sirocco camera review with them Ziess lenses in the dual camera.
I worked with ziess lenses in optics and they are fantastic but really bloody expensive

Samsung in the Past already kicked Iphone in screen quality, batery and with all Android vantages over IOS. Now with this camera, the S9 kick's the Iphone ass.

I not say life like. I'd say the Apple produces and yellowish look.

Yeah, Samsung kept its yellow tint on Human skin. Apple isn't much to brag about either. It's easy to see that they want to be each other, but both still keep their loyal sheeps.

                  Nice

AnonD-658415, 27 Feb 2018S9 crushes iPhone X in 2nd photo. With obvious sharpening.

I'm not a professional so i don't care about realistic looks, S9 clearly did better for me.

"In theory, the lower number would give you more detail in dark images, but in practice, we saw true colors and slightly fewer details, although an untrained eye would hardly see the difference."

The meaning in that statement is incomplete. Lower number aperture means more light (hence information) can be captured by the sensor. To take advantage of this, the ISO (sensor sensitivity) can be dialed lower to reduce noise, assuming the same metering method is used and the shutter speed is same for both cases. Some sensors tend to change the white balance once the ISO is changed and this affects the colour too.

Regarding the loss of details, that only applies to out of focus area taken by low aperture value.

To be honest not worth upgrade camera-wise.

Well, the Note8 already had an edge over the iPhone X....

I think the S9+ is clearly the better over-all performer here. Of course the iPhone X is no slouch, and can still slug it out with the best...

This comparison shows well the advantages of using a bigger sensor than the competition with a narrower aperture. If you open the full images from both phones you can see that iPhone X overexposes some bits wile the S9 don't. Also, thanks to bigger sensor and newer technology S9 have less noise despite the higher ISO. Not to mentions that because of the narrower aperture the image looks sharpers overall without the need to apply post processing sharpening algorithms.

Apple needs to start using bigger sensors this year, you can't do better than this with that sensor size.

                                        No surprise...

If you check the photo tool here, many phones have better samples than iphone X.
If you think I lie, just check it yourself.
