The notch is spreading for no good reason: the MWC was rife with iPhone X lookalikes

I guess this is because there are still many folks who wish for a "premium" Fruit Product. These manufacturers design their phones like iPhone since they want to reach the demographics who are fascinated by Apple but can't afford them. This is mostly the case in developing nations, and since these nations have promising demographics, manufacturers start pouring down such products.
If people can shrug off Apple's "premiumness" maybe we won't have those copies. Come on folks, Apple ain't premium anymore. It has many limitations that are not found in other phones, even in cheap feature phones.

The absolute worst are the ones with both a notch and a bottom bezel, because it shows they just copied it for looks without even thinking. At least when people were copying the Mi Mix or S8 the result made sense functionally.

It's really interesting.
A year ago, or six months ago, when these phones were designed, the iPhone Notch must have seemed like a great idea.
A bit more screen space and an interesting look. Follow the leader.
But obviously it's getting a huge negative reaction, and th OEMs must be a shocked and horrified. LG seems to be backing up and redoing their design, but other companies can't afford to do that.
So, expect a little bit of top bezel in the next round of phones. You need to put the camera and sensors somewhere.

vivo apex's retractable selfie camera reminds me of old Nokia, every phone looked completely different and they weren't afraid to experiment crazy new ideas. we need more of this in today's smartphone market :D

I really hate that trend and thank goodness Samsung hasn't done that. The S9 looks really great and does not possess a notch, while the bezels are really thin. Why can't dummy OEMs copy the good guys? NOOOOO, they go on and coppy Rotten Apple's worst decisions like that abomination that is the notch.
Hear my words. These failures will lead to market stagnation, then the mobile market will collapse like the PC market. And then they'll repeat it over again with connected gear like smartwatches, because they won't learn their lesson.

it "no good reason" cause all people I know literally hate this idea which was borrowed from LG V10-20 where it was better as a additional screen instead of having weirdly lookingvideos and apps.
What LG, Samsung and others do is good enough for me with a dream to have underscreen or below the screen (tiny) fingerprint(no face recognition horsesheet).

Yeah cause Apple do it, so its looks so bad. Im not blind.
But seriously, more less bezel on your phone its makes your phone same as other more. All phone with 18:9 screen looks same on front for now. So there must the next level (?) like notch and I think ASUS do it well cause 19:9 which is not distorting your 18:9 content view, balance notch that not too wide and not too thick.
I know peoples says "Ah iPhone X copy" but there is something good but still peoples compalaints the bad side like I'm saying before. Even peoples dont know the difference about "Copy" and "Refine".
For example, Galaxy S9 has indentical back camera and FPS placements like Huawei Mate 10 and refine 960fps slow mo like Xperia XZ2 and no one call it copy or even, its nothing compared Zenfone 5's complants. The problem its just from haters. Or we just cant accept it, you can do it slowly.

You forgot to mention to mention Dogee's phones they presented on MWC... IMO their approach to bezel-less display is better than Ulefone's...

V10 looks pretty nice
