Anonymous, 12 Aug 2011Seems like Nokia is going to die a slow painful death!Nokia won't die. They still sell the most handsets. Me myself wont ever own another Nokia, not after the dismal fails that were the N70, N82 and N95. They were my last. Now I have a Moto Defy and I love it and Android.
Nokia has lost the race with Symbian vs Android vs iOS, however there are millions of people out there who need phones simply to communicate and cant be bothered about the latest update for a OS or apps. So as long as there are phones to suit every market then phone manufacturers will be fine.

please read this slowly:
In smartphones, Nokia’s sales into the channel in the second quarter of 2011 were low. This was partly due to a very competitive market that deflated demand for Symbian, but also to inventory management issues in Europe and China in particular. The channel bought less and worked hard to reduce stock levels, partly by cutting prices on older products.
read the part DEFLATED DEMAND FOR SYMBIAN. CHANNEL BOUGHT LESS. WORK HARD TO REDUCE STOCK and CUTTING PRICES.
so who kills nokia? symbian did it. thanks symbian lover.please, try help nokia reduce their symbian phone stock cause most people dont want symbian anymore.

One of the factors that contributed to the low sales of Sony Ericsson handsets was the Japan earthquake/nuclear disaster. It disrupted the supply chain and hence shipments and sales were lowered. The release date for a lot of their new phones were also pushed back. Hopefully they will recover by Q3/4.

you should read it first,
yes the second table show nokia still market leader but second table is about all phone(smartphone and dumbphone)not only smartphone.
for people who still trying to protect symbian try read the first table, the smartphone arena and it really show symbian drop down to half of the android and almost run by iOS, that mean the platform is really burn to death soon and nokia suffered from this old silly OS, i really do think Elop is nokia true savior and WP7 will climb to the top someday, try to use it first and judge. symbian is the worst OS compare to the others rival. just take a look at the new nokia 500 with 1ghz proccesor it still lag and stutter scrolling facebook apps, that mean is not hardware fault but the OS cannot keep up and nothing can fix symbian,
its been many years nokia try to fix symbian and they still failed till today, once again it is symbian fault that burn nokia down.
nokia may rise again but symbian will die. just read the table.

Like I said before..
I don't like that much Symbian or Meego, BUT I JUST LOVE NOKIA PHONE DESIGNS..
They are cool and Unique...No need to copycat anything around they have their own personality....
I love E7, N8 and X7 designs N9 is a clear winner (just I don't like Meego :P)
That's what I say about Samsung, they need UNIQUE designs no copy iPhones...why don't learn from Nokia in doing some personal designs...
Good for Nokia, they still with good phones like the first time :D

This is amazing! Nokia is still number 1 while is in transition!!! This is quite a success, you all have to admit this. I am imagining where they will be in two-three years time from now, considering the imminent WP 7.5 launch and the very worm welcome of the meego platform which in my opinion will not be obsolete.
I admit that Android and IOS are on the wave now, but this is exactly the reason why Nokia adopted the WP platform so that we, the customers, have more choices. I would dare to say that the decision to sell Symbian to Accenture was a smart move as well because the new owner will be more focused on the development than Nokia was, so that we might have a forth major OS player on the market.
