12 August, 2011
Counting the number of smartphones actually sold, Nokia is still on top. Not for long, though.

Anonymous, 12 Aug 2011ZTE on the fifth???????????? damn, and poor SE on the bottom.....ZTE release many interesting mid to low end phones. example zte blade, it is the best spec in it's price range (i don't know about the QC though). Not forget to mention that many carrier actually re-branding ZTE phone as their own...

Dave, 12 Aug 2011They mite do better since they are supporting windows phone... moreThat's a gamble that would pay off. Once people learn about the superiority of the WP Mango UI and what it can do plus the customization that Nokia might do to it, they will switch from Android.

Keep in mind that Android may be fully customizable but those apps that customizes it are not getting downloads parallel to the number of Android activations each day. What it means is that the majority of Android users, the general public, not the geeks, uses the ugly OEM-skinned Android UI.

Sony Ericsson will ditch android by the end of the year and go with Windows Phone. OEM's like SE are sick to death of having to deal with fragmented updates and pimply faced whining fanboys.

                  Interesting results

                  In the future:
Nokia results will be worse with useless symbian platform.
Sony Ericsson results will be better with successful Android platform and it will be the second after Samsung or even first.

AnonD-7027, 12 Aug 2011there are still lots of nokia lovers coz they've grown usin... moreyes if only they would of made Android phones and then had to pump out loads of crap handsets and then had no way to make them different from anybody else. oh yes i know that could of put a skin on top and made the OS even more laggy and then people would say lets root it oh and then they could push dual core on everyone dosent matter because it sounds nice just saying but still nobody is doing anything with dual core its just their just for being just their. and subjected all its users to bad battery life apps that force close and updates that arrive if they can be bothered to get around to it. YEP SHOULD OF GONE WITH ANDROID!!!

Not surprising at all. However Nokia is in a transition, which is a moment of weakness. Hopefully other companies won't take full advantage of this.

                                    LOVE IT!!!

NOKIA will only get stronger once it starts shipping WP7.5 Phones you clown.

Samsung actually dropped market share, but it's funny how you forgot to mention this; I thought android was the be all and end all. Guess not.
