Pre-orders for Galaxy S9 may be on par with the S8

That's lower than Samsung's expectations - the CEO of Mobile expected better numbers thanks to various strategies to beef up demand.

Don't know why people are complaining myself, main thing I want on a phone is a good screen and sound quality. Samsung have the best screens (especially if you like the edge screen effect like myself) then this time it introduces the stereo speakers which will be nice for audio. I don't need much else to be honest but having the camera work in more scenarios with it's low light performance is helpful. I don't see how it's that different to most phone upgrades, they're never huge from one generation to the next anymore, anyone with an iphone 7 didn't really need the crappy iphone 8 and same with any lg or sony or whatnot moving up to the very next one.

Price is the only stickler really but for me it's still worth it due to best screen and good audio.

I just bought a brand new S7. It's less than half the price and it's designed properly: flat, rectangular, no wavy-absurd display, and fingerprint scanner on the front, where I want it to be.

S8 series with longer pre-order period? Como on!! the situation should be converse because S9 launched almost one month earlier than it's predecessor. It seems S9 series with less momentum of sales due to same design language and not-so-attractive feature upgrade.

I once pre-ordered but cancelled eventually because I still want to keep using my Note8.

Samsung, who you think you're fooling? I was expecting last year exactly the same improvements and features on S8: dual camera, bottom finger sensor (or even under display), dual speakers, blood pressure sensor. Don't tell me you had no technology to make them by that time, i won't believe you. No, even as a fan I can't act blindly and become a financial sadist who likes to be fooled.

After seeing many videos I went to shop to check s9 plus. I was right. It is more bluish and dimmer like pixel 2. Samsung shouldn't do that. You made better display for Apple and for us this?. I didn't check the retail version . That's my last hope.:(. Even note 8 has better display than both.

I don't see how the s9/s9+ duo is going to outsell last year's flagships. S8, s8+, and note8 owners are already a big chunk of samsung's consumers and it looks like majority of them aren't going to make the switch. Also, the fact that the s9+ is more expensive than the note8 at launch is a big joke tbh.

With the recent sales, the S8 has been a much better buy.

T-Mobile is doing a 50% of special for preorders now. That should help with preorder numbers.
