AnonD-1082, 16 Aug 2011Have some sleep. You're normally smarter than that. Google ... moreI don't think it won't be too long before the mobile phone market saturates like the PC market. Give it 3-5 years... Doesn't make sense for Google to start doing hardware when their real revenue comes from the information they sell.

AnonD-5197, 16 Aug 2011Google wants more people to use Android. That's their main ... moreI know all that and I never said Googorola will have exclusivity. What I said is Googorola will have early access to the latest Android build before any other oem gets their hands on it. Googorola will be a few months ahead and have the latest Android and it will have pure google experience without any motoblur skin crap.
The reason why Moto isn't selling as much as sammy or htc is because they are at a weakened state and they can't afford to flood the market like sammy and htc does. Now that Googorola have the money, they can now extend their reach and flood the market. It makes sense for Google to flood the market with Googorola phones as they will be earning more money from bith their ads and from the hardware sale itself.

AnonD-1082, 16 Aug 2011Have some sleep. You're normally smarter than that. Google ... moreGoogle wants more people to use Android. That's their main goal and that's their main investment because more users mean more revenue through ads. Giving any kind of exclusivity to Motorola would be heading the exact opposite direction. It wouldn't take more than a few quarters for Android to disappear if Moto was sole OEM distributing distributing it. Besides, Samsung and HTC sells significantly larger number of devices than Motorola... so does Google want to miss out on that?
First, purchasing patents only from Motorola would be more "expensive" than purchasing the whole company... not a good investment. Second, if what you said was true and MS was about to buy Moto along with its patents, then better explanation to Google's reaction is that they wanted to defend Android as MS's purchase would mean deeper trouble with lawsuits.
Don't think too complicated... and no need to be paranoid.

AnonD-10946, 16 Aug 2011Except for the fact that Google has publically stated that ... moreWe'll see where Google takes Moto. We can say that Google said that so the asian manufacturers will not panic. Do you expect Google to be honest and risk scaring their partners? It's all PR talk and those asian manufacturers saying they welcome Google's acquisition of MMI are scripted. They may be holding high level emergency meetings about their contingency plan for all we know.

Google ... moreExcept for the fact that Google has publically stated that it will operate as it's own entity and Google even stated that Motorola doesn't have any dibs on Nexus line and they will still be using their own previous work?

[deleted post]Have some sleep. You're normally smarter than that. Google now owns Motorola and since these manufacturers compete with each other, we can say that the oems will now be competing against google itself. What I posted isn't about defending anyone. It's about what will happen in the near future. Think harder and you'll realize that Google has now become like Apple with a vertical business model that makes their own software and hardware. If Google just wants the patents then they can just buy the patents and not the whole motorola mobility division. MS was poised to buy MMI so google acted hastily and paid a 63% premium just to keep MMI from falling to MS. Motorola Mobility was worth 37% of that $12. 5 billion when it closed last friday. MS jacked up the price.

hi people pls cool down, we are the one benefit with great phone + OS at the end of the never ending war, to be frank, the phone dont really last for long anyway, there will be always improved hardware and new UI, firmware or OS. Today we support brand N, next we support brand A, and now brand S, maybe one day brand M, think about it by the time you support other brand your current phone on hand is out-of date..

I'd like for this news to mean my Motorola Bravo is going to get Gingerbread, but nope. Good stuff though because Motorola Mobility is my favourite company and this only strengthens their Android abilities.

AnonD-10946, 16 Aug 2011sigh for someone who's trying to be such a huge motorola fa... morebuddy, Moto A925 was RELEASED in HK around Dec 2003/ Jan 2004, and I have never seen any 7710 in action even though GSM arena said it was released in Q4 2004.
So you never charge your phone via USB? You don't use any micro-SD card? Why is it so hard for you to give credit to Motorola for what it has done?
