AnonD-14743, 15 Aug 2011This is a wake-up call for Samsung, HTC, LG, SE and other m... moretake it easy son, Android OS will still remain OPEN SOURCE to the handset makers and not exclusive to Motorola Mobility.
As for Samsung, they are doing well as they have their brand in Bada, WP7 and Android plus their own propriety OS for their feature phones, LG might be in some trouble as they rely way to much on 3rd parties like Qualcomm (for their propriety EFS OS) and Android, but they do have their S-Class UI which easily sits ontop of their version of MeeGo that they are looking at releasing as they are in the MeeGo development team with intel, their version is called Moorestown (Nokia's is/was Hatterman) which is based of Linux Mobile "Maemo".
HTC are also ok as they have WP7 and Android
he only major worry is where does Google send their contract for the Nexus series of handsets ...

100 Moto, 16 Aug 2011Just wanted to point out the fact when people called Motoro... moresigh for someone who's trying to be such a huge motorola fanboy you fail. The first prototype mobile device made by Motorola actually happened in 1973, 10 years before the introduction of the DynaTac, and if you are going to talk about Mobile phone meaning phones that are not restricted to a static location then the first mobile phone would be created in Sweden in the 1960's in which they were able to succesfully make a phone call in a moving vehicle.
Nokia did have a touch screen, although not 3G in the NOkia 7710 launched in 2004 same year the 9500 communicator however the lack of any data connection such as 3G and wifi made it not very successful. Also the first touch screen isn't made by Motorola, it was IBM and it was in 1992 which was named the IBM Simon, both a touch screen device and a smart phone. So where does Motorola deserve credit for touch screen phones again?
Also I don't know why you refer to Nokia as the "almighty" brand, that only works on Nokia Fanboys which I am clearly not if you ask anyone else on GSMarena.

Well we know google is not going to support only motorola but we must know google will care motorola now more beautifuly....hmmm what will happen then??? ofcource then it will care a bit lesser about others and we will see next nexus (may be after next nexus) from moto.....and the result.....bada will get more care from samsung (people like me will be benifitted), web os may be more popular, htc may convert their beautiful sense ui into new os, about se n lg its unpredictable but for them web os will be cool platform, ya microsoft may try to buy nokia to have both hardware and software like other compnies are trying to have......or google will supprt all other smartphones.....next one year is going to see some drastic changes in smartphone world....

So you never answered my question, why did it take the almighty brand YEARS to come out with a 3G touchscreen phone? Motorola was making touchscreen phones like A925, and even the A6188/388 series way before the hype of touchscreen phones these days. Shouldn't Motorola deserve some credits?
And of course, without its DynaTAC back in 1983, we may not even have hand phones these days.

Just because someone labels something "HD" does not mean it's HD. Then again, I wouldn't expect you to know anything like this sorts, you're foolish enough to buy a Nokia.

100 Moto, 16 Aug 2011What was the almighty brand making when Motorola was making... moreNokia in 2004 was releasing the Nokia 9500 Communicator which at the time supported WiFi and a much better user experience as well as a larger screen. Motorola's main sales during those years came from mostly sales of the V500/V600 clam shell phones.
I don't know why you're so quick to defend Motorola, like Nokia Motorola who pioneered mobile phones is now nothing but a shell of its former self, both companies are failures in my eyes, so it doesn't really matter who had what devices at those years, it matters whos releasing what devices now.

100 Moto, 16 Aug 2011Motorola was never big? It had 100% market share at one ti... moreThis is relevant how? Doesn't change the fact that Motorola Mobility stock closed at about ~4/share last weekend and doesn't change the fact that a much smaller company such as HTC is selling more smart phones and posting HUGE PROFITS where as Motorola post losses?
Going by your line of thinking HTC should be king since HTC at one point owned 100% market share of Android devices since it was the first Android phone released on the market and Nokia should still be at the top of all GSM devices since Nokia pioneered many of the technology used by GSM devices today.
Again how is it relevant or do you just like to try and argue without anything to help back yourself up?

... moreWhat was the almighty brand making when Motorola was making mobile phones like DynaTAC? TV's?
When Motorola was making 3G touchscreen phone in 2004, what was the almighty brand doing until 2007? When Motorola started using USB / micro-USB charging, how long did it take the almighty brand to adapt such technology?
And where is the touchscreen phone which resists water and dust and shock from the almighty brand? Motorola pioneered that in 2010 with its Defy.

What rubbish moto... moto always made rubbish phones...
If you are speaking about the older days, then think about the days of Nokia 3310/ nokia 8310, moto was a fail at that time. Only half a decade latter, moto was known by the world for itz moto eazor, which latter had displays issues.... Itz only then people came to know who is moto..
Whereas Nokia ruled for more than a decade.. Dont forget the N series phones...
Cheers!!

there was a time, when samsung, motorola,SE etc used nokia's symbian os while competing each other.i think they did so just because there was no other user friendly platforms around.when android was introduced everyone except nokia moves to the otherside resulting the death( almost!) of nokia as well as its symbian os.now i doubt same fate will happen to moto and google's android!!!!

another reason why google is ruling the smartphone os market and symbian is nowhere close to it!!!
When android was facing lawsuits from both corners of the world google came up with an interesting idea to defend its os and also those who use it.
Now to all finnish fanboys, what nokia did with maemo??? And meego, it is like infanticide, and the infant was a talented one!!
And even symbian, nokia ditched the os which provided nokia the no. 1 position in mobile industry and left it alone in the middle of the big black forest with two big beasts feasting on it...

AnonD-5197, 16 Aug 2011I can't believe the number of people who think Motorola wil... moreNot exclusive but Googorola will have early access to the latest build of Android. If Google won't dissolve Motorola Mobility then the manufacturers like Samsung, LG, HTC, and SE will be directly competing with Googorola while supporting their competitor at the same time. If Google dissolves Motorola Mobility then they are not maximizing their investment and that won't please the shareholders
Reports are coming in that Microsoft forced Google to buy Motorola and they paid a 63% premium over what Motorola Mobility is worth.

And Nokia makes good hardware, and everything that isn't software is hardware. Symbian's requirements are low so it dosen't need dual core. I can play HD games on 680MHz CPU and a powerful GPU but in Android you atleast need 800MHz and a better GPU.
And why do people drag Nokia to posts that are not even related to it?
