FM RX/RDS is definite, TX is not, this story was wrong.
There def. won't be TX, the antenna simply isn't there.
But RX was confirmed as do-able via software.

There's at least 28 countries so far, for which availability's been confirmed.
Either via retail, carrier, or both.

It's already been confirmed for retailers in France/Spain.

Don't worry about the money. The FM transmitter likely comes at no extra cost because it's part of the connectivity chip that also does Wifi and Bluetooth. For those who worry, Nokia actually saved money by not designing and implementing _another_ antenna in the N9 ;)

Nokia is only trying if it can take the smart phone market, but i dont think changing the Os is the best bet, why not ungrade the processors speed od symbian that we all know a(( know and like, well i wish them good luck

The FM transmitter is placed in a Combo chip along with the bluetooth module since the days of N85 . The version of the custom - made chip changes every now and then , the combination remains the same .

"…and Nokia isn't exactly in a position where it can throw money down the drain".

Here's a murder story about a phone manufacturer who invested loads of time and effort to come up with a shiny new operating system and mobile phone. Then they… ok, the CEO did it.
