What's the point to get OS update after one & half year since launch, that too for a flagship phone. It make sense if it is available within 6 months after launch.

Basically, the formula of Samsung update is to update the last year’s OS of your phone when Google releases a newer version.
When Google releases P, Samsung will update phones to O.
When Google releases Q, Samsung will update phones to P.
And so on.
