I really don't get this. Both from the company and policy perspective.

Is Qualcomm hurting for money? Even though they seem to be saying no to Broadcom, it's a half hearted rejection that just won't go away. At least I see why Broadcom isn't taking no for an answer.

As for the policy, that's a whole different heap of weird. I get that Trump isn't the brains behind this... or much of anything. However his policies and behaviors have made it far easier for lobbyists and other people to influence these choices. Buying out the competition is one thing that walking, talking Cheeto did to make his fortune. Foreign entity be dammed if it got in the way of HIM making a quick buck. I get the whole concept behind his "Make America great again" slogan. Sounds great to say it, but the reality is the US is part of the GLOBAL economy and the GLOBAL market. So why this need to shun the rest of the world, especially China... oh wait, Trump doesn't have any official business interest there.

    Trump have been a great president. Just another great decision to stop Broadcom from monopoly the market.

      1. Most of hate toward Trump is related to his person/words not his action, actual work.
      2. More than half orders/laws suggested by Trump are not from Trump. When people realize that President/Premier of country is just puppet/face to show on TV. Most of laws are made by lobbysts and people "behind" him. Obama was not different, he just sign papers. It always was like that and it will be like that because that how politic work. Just most of us cry about presidents and politics of our own countries, when most of problems are made by LOCAL politics or office personel that cling to small things making your life heII.
      3. Any government should prevent from merging two big companies, not only because of security reasons(if one of it have deals with it) but also because of market health. Such behemoth company would have too much power over smaller competition.
      4. Any government should support country-based companies keeping balance between foreign and national companies. Even if from people perspective its not great.

      Deals between companies and govs are more complex that people think. You cant be angry on one guy that just put face on TV. Its work of whole staff and lobbist behind him.

        That's good and bad.
        At least Intel will not buy Broadcomm now which is amazing.

          I dont get ,i mean is Qualcomm loseing money or something. Why they wanna mixed with Broadcom, or im missing something?

                Does this mean intel will try to acquire qualcomm now? I don't think they can coz it will end up in a monopoly on modem tech xD
