AnonD-558092, 13 Mar 2018The point is to make big $$$$$ on the back of highly influe... moreYeah, it's a sad reality that those companies want to reach and provide iPhone X-like alternative for folks who can't afford to buy it but wish to have one, and these kind of folks are abundant and provide good market opportunity. You see iPhones (and Apple's other products as well) are still considered premium things and owning one may boost one's ego, at least in developing countries such as mine.
So it's really not the manufacturers' fault, they're just using a market opportunity. It's the common people and society's fault. They want to show off.

    I'd rather have thin top and bottom bezels than have a hideous notch obstructing my screen.

      2. Bigger battery.
      3. If you want phone like VIVO APEX, is not good for now. Why? Despite bad sensor on it or even fragile for Camera modular if get dropped. That is why OPPO stop make N series. (OPPO N3)
      4. Make the side bezel more thinner to easy hold.
      5. For upgrade StB ratio of course. Why not? Apple just make it popular. Dumbs think Apple is original.
      6. Some phone like Zenfone 5 has stereo speaker make it more harder to put notch like Essential PH-1.
      7. Androids notch is more balanced unlike PH-1 too thick and iX too wide.
      8. Android notch can be implemented aka more useful like put the shortcuts and many more, this is the next level of customizion.
      9. And many more, I already bother haha.

        This is becoming a plague. Start the Whatsapp and iMessage chains with the motto: "Ban the notch!"

          To all the people that wants to erradicate the bezels: Do you know what will happen when your phone falls on a hard surface on a corner that is a millimeter away from the screen? Are you ready to pay for a replacement screen almost everytime that occur?

              Flossy420, 13 Mar 2018I really don't understand phone makers that have a notch bu... moretrue story. android companies had a chance to "teach" apple not following the notch trend, and get new and better ideas (apex, mi mix 2) and they blow it. i will refuse to buy a phone with a notch. if we all do our part, they will learn the hard way....guess this year i will pass any upgrade. i don't buy samsung phones, but kudos for them not following the trend.

                Nokia 7 Plus instead of this! Yaaaaaas!

I don't know if the main reason is for being iPhone copycats or because it simply ruins the whole aesthetic of the phone. I didn't like the notch from the beginning, and it's not growing on me for sure.
                      I would totally pay $900 for a 4.7 inch, all display phone. For a guy like me, this would be the perfect phone.

                        I don't understand why everyone is adopting the notch. I hate it so bad :)

                          I really don't understand phone makers that have a notch but still has some bezels at the bottom

                          Isn't the whole point of the notch is to increase Screen to body ratio has much as possible but still keep the essentials for the camera, sensors and earpiece

                          I feel like the whole point of this notch for companies like vivo and asus is to be an iPhone Copycat

                          It's a shame really
