India is still brand conscious and Samsung is still king of high end smartphones. Mi mix 2 failed in India due to its mediocre cameras. Maybe that's why they don't lauch their premium line in India.

Cheater Xiaomi. Why the lower quality redmi note 5 pro ( note 5 in china) launched in India.
      Don't buy xiaomi products.

        Well Done Xiaomi.....

I always wanted the USB port on the indian Note 5 pro to be a USB C in china.finally wish come true..... Defenite buy........

This Redmi Note 5 will simply kill Redmi 5 Plus, at least in its home market. Price difference between RMN5 3/32 and RM5P 3/32 is only 100 yuan (~15 bucks) and there's the same 100 yuan difference between 4/64 models (1299 vs 1399) which is completly negligable with Note 5 being a much better device overall.

Every country has varied amount of taxes and custom duties and royalties that Manufacturers have to pay.

So how do you expect Chinese pricing in India use some sense.

In this case the Europeans are getting totally ripped because pricing is rumoured to start from €230.

European Taxes are extremely high as compared to China and the same goes for India.

Ppl like you are the reason why brands don't launch good phones in India because you keep comparing the Chinese pricing without understanding the laws and procedures that goes on behind the scenes.

Xiaomi didn't launch the MI6 and Mi Note 3 in India for the same reason BTW it has been launched every where else even in Europe even Pakistan for that matter.

Well done Xiaomi. You guys proved your brand's name by listening to our feedback, comments and finally made this phone a perfect one. Excited to hear about the USBType-C implementation, Android Oreo out of the box, impressive pricing and Camera improvements over the Indian model. Good job Xiaomi, you can take my money now.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2018I agree and the indian variant actually is really good. If ... moreRM5 pro launched in china with updated specs at exact same price as RM5 and RM4 before that. Even with the difference in specs Xiaomi didn't change the price of RM5 pro over RM5 in China which means we got unnecessary price difference in India (with slightly lower specs). I am comparing device prices in the same market not across markets. Our RM5 pro has good specs but pricing should have scaled similarly to RM5.
Lastly, apart from better camera and fast charging, USB Type-C is just a standard. It doesn't affect the price of the device. You can have Type-C with QC 2.0 also. This just to create difference between Redmi series and Mi series.

Merwyn Fernandes, 16 Mar 2018Indian market obviously got what was best for its market Xi... moreI agree and the indian variant actually is really good. If they start complaining about this, that's just plain stupidity and misunderstanding of how market works.

AnonD-732774, 16 Mar 2018Finally what it should have been in the first plaice. I hop... moreObviously this will the model which will be launched in Europe hence the price increase will be justified.

Finally what it should have been in the first plaice. I hope this is the version that is coming to the EU and it comes with 4k recording out of the box. I hope you review it soon.

Indian market obviously got what was best for its market Xiaomi Skipped on the Camera and Type C to keep the Price low and as it seems China got a proper variant with Type C , Fast Charging and Better Camera.

With all these the price would at least go to 16k for the 4gb model which wouldn't be appreciated.

Hence Xiaomi did what's good for business and launched a Subpar device in a price sensitive and brand sensetive market.

I think this is the main reason that Xiaomi first launched the device in India and then China
