Guess why I haven't logged in to this site with either Facebook or Google the last few months? Since 2015 I've only used Facebook as a login for a handful sites like this one, that unfortunately don't offer a good alternative. Now both Google and Facebook are being kicked out of my Samsung device.
This statement by Zuckerberg is just more smoke and mirrors. How is he counting when he claims it's been fixed since many years ago? "One. Tw... Many."? As late as last year during the French election they had to panic delete a bunch of stuff daily, even on election day, as organisations like Cambridge Analytics were doing the same thing there. During the Brexit referendum it was as bad as the 2016 US presidential election. That was less than two years ago.

Anonymous, 22 Mar 2018Since long, people should have realized this, using faceboo... moreJust because PEOPLE decide to pour their lives in it. It's not like Facebook forces them to create an account. The point is about how personal data collected by social media can be used without you even knowing it.

Mr, 22 Mar 2018I don't understand the problem. When you putting something ... moreActually, it’s not about that. You should read carefully about what really happened and how it might affect you. Do you think governments would get involved if this was just about what you publicly post on FB?

Also, if you are not conscious about the risks involved with your activity on social media or apps/websites collecting your data then you should watch this (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w8k7bDqrcwM) to get a better idea what someone can do with your data. You want to work for a big company? You might not get an interview because, based on data you shared voluntarily or otherwise, they have your profile and... you get the idea.

I was deactivating my account since 2013. And now I’m about for a permanent deletion. I think I’m ready.

I don't understand the problem. When you putting something in public social network, are you surprised that other people can see your photos/postings? Only you choosing how much info about yourself you want to share. If you have paranoia then don't use social network at all. Where's the problem?

Facebook is being used by extremists and radical groups to spread hate and radicalize people, and Facebook turn a blind eye. There are a ridiculous amount of fake users infiltrating comments and groups to spread radicalism, hoaxes, and hate, and considering how Facebook is penetrating emerging markets where the people don’t have a good maturity level on critical thinking of online contents, the results are disastrous for the communities in many of these countries.

Some websites were talking about this right after the US election, about how personal data was used to target ads. Only now they apologize.
On the other side, users are giving away their data too easily. This wasn't normal FB data but data collected when FB users were using some outside apps and giving them permission to acces their profiles (similar to how some of us log in to GSMArena with Facebook) - those apps were just those stupid quizzes and polls. You know, stuff like "what would I look like if I was the opposite s_x" or "who is my ideal celebrity mate" and such. People, don't do that.

So they knew that 3 years ago.
They didn't say anything by that timeframe.
"We have a responsibility to protect your data, and if we can't then we don't deserve to serve you."
                              You're right you don't.
Not only you did not protect it (and I estimate that they did not do enough) but you kept it a secret.
"50M dudes' data was stolen. Should we tell them?
-No, they'll figure it out by themselves"
Adieu, Facebook. You were never good.
