Sealing the battery is the only way for them to keep making money as the s9 is being ignored by some in favor of the A8 2018 plus and to some extent, flagships of yesterdays like the used S7 and Note 8.

Imagine users being able to swap batteries with those phones. How are they supposed to sell yearly?

AnonD-506717, 24 Mar 2018wait...this is not mainstream j sereiss phone...j8 and j8+ ... moreSAMSUNG have been polishing their J their series since 2017, increasing display resolutions, using the new 18.5:9 ratio for their smartphones which will further affect performance if it is using the same chipset, making the software more elegant, camera little to no difference, battery also, but what haven't change is probably the chipset, not caring about the RAM much because even if u put a overkill amount, if u got a crappy chipset, putting a lot would still make it a crappy chipset, because that is the maximum amount of power it is able to squeeze out. Ok, back to the chipset. They have been using the same old chipset for a few years already, PARTICULARLY with this series, the most budget series of theirs. What benefit will they have in return? Logically speaking, nothing, except a loss of budget customers buying this lineup every year. What matters most for a person if he were to buy that lineup every year, is whether there is a bump in performance, not all the fancy polishing of the rest of the aspects of the smartphone. Your smartphone may look a lot more fancier compared to last year's version, but if it doesn't yield any performance bump, it is deemed useless to upgrade from the previous version, and from here I will recommend users other brands' budget smartphones

AnonD-506717, 24 Mar 2018wait...this is not mainstream j sereiss phone...j8 and j8+ ... moreThis is a mainstream J series smartphone. GALAXY J8/GALAXY J8+ with Infinity Display so what? If they pair it up with the EXYNOS 7870, it will still be another disappointment anyway. If the previous gen have mediocre performance, what do u get for the future one with the SAME chipset? Slightly more mediocre performance. Why? Have u use the 2016 version? Is it a little laggy when u play low-medium graphic game? Yes. What happens when they change the aspect ratio? The smartphone gets longer. What does this mean? A slight increase in display resolution. Does this affect performance? Yes. I don't care if there is Infinity Display or not, if they release it with the same chipset, the performance will be either the same or lesser, so cut the crap

I like Samsung but why do they even bother releasing a new version of their phones if it's the same specs?

Crocop, 24 Mar 2018Eh... Exynos 7870 one more time. I still have and use J7 20... moreTrue. since the A8 has the new E7885, the E7880 used in the A 2017 line-up could've come to the J 2018 series. But I except it to come to the J8/J8+.

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2018Bye bye Samsungwait...this is not mainstream j sereiss phone...j8 and j8+ are coming with infinty display....for 2018

Eh... Exynos 7870 one more time. I still have and use J7 2016, and it still works great with it, but you got to consider that it pushes only HD screen on J7 2016, while other and newer Samsung midrangers moved to Full HD, so there was already some lag in phones like J7 2017 and others with the same CPU. I really have no idea why Samsung is constantly pushing now more than two year old chip. But yeah, my next phone will probably be something like Huawei, since they offer more for same or less ammount of money. and Samsung is still stuck in 2016.
