Compact flagship for top notch camera...not everyone play games or rarely play games on phone(like me). But we want flagship for it camera and faster updates (which is a headache in midrange...so far in moat devices) and of course... company's best design in hand

We don't even have small midrangers anymore, almost all small phones are very low end. Samsung's A3s are too expensive for what they offer. If you want a decent value phone you have to go with mostly 5.5". Even 5.2 is OK but they just don't happen.

I love using compact phones, especially flagship ones. I'm considering buying Samsung's S7 because it is the phone that all I need in a small package.😉

"And have you tried gaming or typing on a 5" device? It's not possible to touch the screen and see what's on it at the same time."
You must be blind then. 5 inches is pretty big enough to be comfortable to type and see what's on the screen. Gaming too. Video watching as well. The only explanation is that you might be blind.

Considering to upgrade my old note 4 I find it very disappointing that there are very few wide phones .
Even the new 6+ inch phones aren't any bigger than a 5.5 inch when watching 16/9 content.
Basically my only logical upgrade path is to another note (that is close to that 7.1 cm width), but Samsung devices are so expensive now. I wish I had more options.

Truth be told, I don't really need a flagship parameters - higher end of mainstream would probably be enough. However, no one besides Sony does worthwhile sub 5"/68mm Android phones these days, which is the most baffling part for me.

good article.in the summer is hard to have a big phone and carry it arround.and i dont need snapdragon 845 for this.a 600 series will be ok.i guess only a3 and some motorola g6 is the way to go.3g ram and 32gb storage with a midrager chipset will make a perfect buy, at around 250 dollars.

Klej, 25 Mar 2018That's exactly what I thought. Few years ago we were playin... moreAnd one current trend that can be linked to your saying is bezel. A few years back when bezeless smartphones wasn't a thing yet, no one complained about the bezels, but it was up until XIAOMI made a bezeless smartphone, the rest followed. This led to a massive number of people criticizing about big bezels (which no one complained previously), thinking that bezels is what makes a great smartphone instead of its hardware. I'm fine with big bezels, same goes to small bezels, but for the rest of the people using smartphones it is either one of them. What have smartphone technology made people into...

If you ask a junkie what would be his choice - bindle of pure dope or a brick of pure dope - can you guess what would be hype's pick?
Content consumption instead of creation has us strung out on phones 24/7 so bigger will always be better. Unless you can contain the addiction and delete all idiotic apps such as Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Pinterest, various News apps, etc. Then the big screen would be nothing but annoyance.

Bigger doesn't mean it is better. For example: HTC U Ultra...

I am currently using 2 phones: 4.7" and 5.2" (both with 65-70% screen to body ratio) and I have to admit that the smaller phone is more practical to handle. The bigger screen won't make me use the second phone more and I actually take it out of the pocket less often just because it's too big and inconvenient. For texting I definitely prefer the smaller phone since I can hold it in one hand without dropping it, and if I want to watch video I'd rather stream it to Chromecast. So yes, I'd rather have a compact phone rather than a large phone.

Tooluka, 25 Mar 2018Wow, that's some spectacularly twisted "logic" in the article. That's exactly what I thought. Few years ago we were playing games on 3.5" iPhone 4 and nobody complained, but as he admitted he has big hands :-)
