This might just be the easiest way to disable all the spying by default. It takes days to turn off most of the spying that occur by default. Why are the default options in Apps almost always the opposite of what they should be?

So after waving the 'Open OS' flag for years, they're slowly choking up things? Thats so Google!

Not going to complain. I see where this is going too.

As an example we have a BluBoo (poo poo) Edge "phone like thing" for testing. It's HORRIBLE and it has spyware buried in the default launcher (can't remove / disable it). Dumb thing came up with this message the other day. Couldn't stop laughing.

And on a phone like that, when Maps or Gmail crashes, who do we the end users blame? GOOGLE. It's not their fault the framework on that phone got crammed in there and screwed up. It's the manufacturer (in the case of Bluboo that might be a stretch) who decided to take short cuts to maximize profits. Forcing a bit of software QC at this point isn't a bad thing. Google gets a chance to see the software before it goes to the end user, avoids issues like that phone. Keep them honest, keep our data safe.

Just my 2 cents but the consumers win in the end of this one.

very nice Google. get rid of these nonsense illegal crap messing up the OS. While you're at it, you should stop support for older versions so we can have a less fragmented android

Friendly reminder: it's Google's OS, they can do whatever they want really. We can always look elsewhere if we don't like it. Free choice is alive.

That's a great moved from google to secure the operating system and to make android better. It's mean that we all can get a good android phone without worrying about fake and clone things. Yah it might be little bit expensive but those devices that have been certified are more secure and will get software updates especially from sony, htc and google itself. Better buy something that can last long than waste your money buy a cheap phone with bad quality control

Basically it means that google will block any phone that does not accomodate hacking by facebook and google, and each and every affiliate of these two shameless privacy and human rights violators. Wow.
