But technically, the notch isn't part of the screen, so notched phones also use 100% of the screen. The fact that the notch is impractical for certain tasks, is another thing entirely.

Apple is such a trendsetter that even their design flaws are trendy (i.e. notch). By the way, it looks like LG did a Xiaomi and backfired too.

No notch!
Look at iPhone X sales and you'll know that its notch is really unpopular among isheep themselves.
Don't bring it to Android world. We, Android buyers, will teach Huawei a lesson on P20 series. Emulate Samsung formula and your own formula LG. No need to push hard to be an Appleish.

P20p has 82%, P20 has 80%. Mi Mix 2s has 82%. Mi Mix had 83%. So the Notch has absolutely no purpose whatsoever if it cannot fulfill properly it's primary function, which is to have absolutely nothing on the front but a display, or at least do it better than the more aesthetic solutions.
EDIT: Discard the very first sentence. I read too quickly. 100% STB indeed cannot be reached with a notch (it's literally impossible)

For notch, 2 reasons also, need to hide whenever you want to play games/videos etc + not 100% usable.
If you have to hide it, people need to open their mind's eyes to see that it is not needed at all from the beginning! because it won't be hidden, if it is needed. ( having notch is like manufacturers are hiding their inability to make good,useful full-screen smartphones!)
I mean, it is too early to adopt the notch, may be they should try introducing it again, when they can hide all the sensors and cameras under the display!

Hey even I hate the notch. All the notifications and stuff in the top bar gets squashed. The notch interferes with the screen. HOW ABOUT BEING UNIQUE AND FLIPPING THE NOTCH INSIDE OUT TO MAKE A CROWN!!!

Lol maybe it's just me, but aren't these questions supposed to be asked before the decision and the product is made. Besides, where have they been and why do they need anotger poll? Anywhere on the internet the vast majority of users speak against it.

The portion of extra screen area that the notch provides is negligible given the current size of the screens. That space is lost for notifications. Which force developers to patch the system to accommodate the change and that includes asking Google to support you just for trying to capture a few Apple customers in China or where Apple is popular and people who can not pay their phones and also complicate the lives of developers . In addition to being ugly in the eyes of most users as the surveys have shown.
It looks like a childist aptitude when they don't get the answer they are expeting. This remember me when Xiaomi deleted the tweet about Android One vs MIUI or yesterday when Carl Pei deleted his "Learn to love the notch" tweet. I wanted to help them and even i've been considerating send them a private message with my ideas. Now after watch that they deleted the post, i'm not sure if send them a message or perhaps they don't deserve it.

Rather than notch, the FllView thing looks better and won't look weird when playing anything fullscreen, for thing like notification, shouldn't the edge ticker like with AMOLED enough, and looks better, I mean notch idea is good, but it definitely ruins the presentation, until earphone and camera can go behind the screen, they should stick with Full View kind of display.

Notches and curves, can be ok, if the center of the display forms a square and flat compatible with 16:9 image with decent pixel density, preferably with FHD on a small screen or UHD on a larger screen, instead of the QHD non standard resolution (FHD+ or UHD+, if the screen area is wider than 16:9)
The sides of the notches can be good way of making use of the display area with rounded corners, so that the center can be square. With a notch at the bottom, there could be a physical Home-key, possibly with fingerprint reader.
In use, these display areas should be able to be black, with notification/navigation keys.
When playing video, sides of notches and curves, there could be an option for using the areas for ambient effects, "extending" the screen experience in a similar fashion to the way portrait videos are dealt with, with a blurry imgae matching what is seen in the video.
Those display areas should always be excluded from the actual normal display area, for video, text and images.
The areas can be used for on screen buttons in the camera for example, but should not be part of the viewfinder.
Sides of notches and curves are function areas, and should not be seen as a part of the display area. They could be cut from the same display, or separate screens with no real visible distinction line. (this way makes that use LCD for the actual display could use OLED screens for the function areas, thus enable true black background, and curves that is not possible with typical LCD technology).
Bezels and notches, of course need to be trimmed. A notch should never be bigger than it has to be, and if there is enough bezels to fit sensors+speakers or hardware buttons without notches, notches should not be used.

I agree it is a great idea, but people are not critical. It loterally has no downside (and the aesthetic part can be solved via a software trick).

Let's hope that popular opinion won't prevail.
People are often resistant to good ideas. Tucking the notfication bar to a secondary screen is genious.
If they made the extra step to paint the notification black (like in older androids) it would look flush with the notch and not out of place at all. Like a smart bezel.

Sad to see them ask about this though. It is not of much importance...
The removable battery was completely eliminating the issue of battery anxiety (which btw is a serious psychological phenomenon these days) ... yet they never asked whether they should preclude it.
