-Unnecessary apps by Google are also a form of bloat.
-Soc is not the only thing that matters on a smartphone, so you cant just judge a phone based on it.

Includes Gmail (the biggest culprit), Play movies and books(which I doubt anyone uses) and Chrome (I'm a firefox loyalist)
I have no use for the above, and I dont mind extra apps pre-installed, as long as they can be removed. So I disabled all the Google crap and put alternatives to make the phone faster.
For Play store I have APK Pure on my Z1 and Amazon on the Blackberry.
For APK Pure, you don't need an app store, the url or a bookmark on the home screen is enough, and Amazon often gives payed apps for free.

This thing was buttery smooth the first day, has a few hiccups sometimes now and the enhancements from Sony are all helpful.

Though my phone is more expensive I think oneplus is going a wrong way. They are no Huawei or Xiaomi, offering mid range phones as well as high end ones. People switched from Samsung and Apple to OnePlus for price = quality alone. I cant seem to see where Oneplus spends the money as, at least in Europe, they don't have any commercials running, whereas Samsung and Apple spend millions on advertisement every year. The specs are good, but not outstanding compared to other flagship phones. Why would people buy OnePlus over competing phones nowadays? I dont got no clue. I dont even consider it anymore...bye oneplus, your first 2 phones were awesome.

There is no iPhone with an IP68 rating yet, it is still a flagship phone. The Galaxy S5 had IP67 still a flagship same for the S6 with no IP rating

Now i have only 4 apks for play store that I hide when not using it with pm hide.
I'm into extreme debloating and from 274 apks I'm down to about 80 including 3rd party ones :)

As for the updates and security patches, Sony is no 1 right after the Pixel line.
PS Sony support is very good, at least in Europe. The only place where people complain about it is India. But guess what: indian people work there. Funny thing, they should be no 1 in support and call centers, right?

I was about to get the s9+ but I think I like the 1+ 6 more because of the notch. Trimmed bezels are too common and boring to deserve the high price of s9+
