Nokia has always had a pulldown menu for notifications since S60v5.

This is hilarious. Nokia copied the pull down notification from Android. Nokia just proved that they are running out of ideas and has copied Symbian's greatest competitor. Nokia is now officially a has been and washed out company.

In response to below comments as well, going through a lot of plain Android phone announcements, its shocking to see how much people instantly bash with the "Nokia is better" argument.

In that sense, there are a seemingly equal amount of trolls on each end, to which I ask you, is it really that difficult to take each phone for what it is, leave people's personal tastes to what they are and most of all, Stop the needlessness to prove that your phone, and whoever made is, is LIKE A BOSS?

"The way multitasking works has changed too - instead of the old task switcher, you can now flick between live images of your open apps. "

Sounds like that N9 OS thingy too, no?

The only fault i find in this phone is the lack of auto focus camera... Apart from that all the three handsets have awesome specs for such a light OS.. which hopefully will translate into lightening fast speed.... Great stuff Nokia....

a drop down notification may have been done in Maemo, but the resemblance this currently has to android is virtually like twins however.

Pushed to it, both operating systems definitely look alike, which pushes me to question why Nokia didn't want to go the Android route but somehow ended up developing something that looks incredibly similar?

It may not exactly be a bad thing though, as of course this is a silent testament to the tried and proven ways of Android, it just doesn't make much sense to me.

Still, an OS is an OS and I don't think "It looks like an android phone" should stop people from getting Symbian Belle

i've always loved symbian, the real first smartphone OS, not android, windows mobile or ios. belle is a much needed face lift and improved functionality. but am still questioning nokia's decision to put all their eggs in microsoft's basket. you bring out belle (so what if america doesn't like it, the rest of the world will), you have meego, and can still make windows phone 7 and android devices to break into that american market.

                          Another thing...
If these are said as copies, then all Touch screen phones are copies of IBM SIMON (released in 1992 , the first touch Screen phone),
all Smartphones are copied from Ericsson R380(released 2000, first Symbian, first SmartPhone).
What are you saying is pointless.....

Symbian belle is quite good. But nokia should abandon wp7 and use meego as their primary os. It is a killer os. Meego will be a new start for nokia and the end of android. It is good that they have announced this update shortly after they started rolling out anna. Would love to use it on my c7

Comeon. I was a symbian user and now use Android (so that you dont call me biased) and that was a faulty move by Nokia which ITSELF said that "Android is outdated." i wish they were more creative.

Good summary, but the sarcasm is a bit off track :-P. The "peeing in the pants" comment was for manufacturers who make Android phones. And that still holds true (will the Google-Motorola deal mean no more warmth in the pants for Samsung and HTC?). But then, Nokia is peeing in the pants with WP7 too :-), unless Microsoft decides to acquire it. Let's hope that happens after they push out the Belle update, or we Mr. Elop may choose to kill even that.

Doesn't care if it looks like android or not.... what does matter that the core is Symbian, and not faulty Android....
And if they have copied, then Android might get to the court.... suing Nokia... if they doesn't, that means , Nokia hasn't copied.... why anyways is the case....
