What Samsung does is so capital intensive otherwise competitors would be falling over themselves for a share in those profits.

Innovation by defini... moreIn the display tech(they were pioneers in OLED manufacturing), pushing the boundaries in display specifications. As far as their NAND memory, next generation fabrication in mobile processor, recently they started focus on camera tech as well (ISOCELL sensors). Their accessories such as wireless charger pads, Dex station, Gear S3 Tizen OS watch.... The list probably endless. Innovation in design doesn't mean only UI or physical form factors. Their improved TouchWiz is really cool addition to their ever improving expertise in software.

Can't think of one that Samsung came up with. Maybe curved screen... Mobile phone companies have been copying each other like there is no(tch) tomorrow. Don't get me wrong I have Samsung (s7) myself and I'm happy with it but let's call things what they are.

Or you just read too many books on principles of capitalism and actually never seen how it works on a big scale on the inside and in practice. Manipulation and shoddy practices is a norm these days...it's profit first - and see how much we can getaway with attitude.

There is something called "commercial advertising" which prime purpose is to create false needs for people to fulfill. Companies invest more in advertising than in R&D itself. Why? Because advertising works. People are being brainwashed into buying their phones and they don't even know it. So, companies force people to buy, but they do it in a very subtle way.

part of me think that some deserve (or want) to be screwed. Is it really so difficult to see that consumers loose out on this? It's an illusion of choice (not buying etc.) as you gonna buy something sooner or later and you gonna get screwed sooner or later... because people like you accept this nonsense.

Samsung Mobile deserves all the success that they get.
Unlike iPhone it didn't abandon expandable storage, the headphone jack, dual sim, water proofing etc etc for greed and money. Also they throw in an AKG Headphone along with a fast charger in the box itself.
I think one gets a lot for the money. I know they could be cheaper. I guess they will make a price correction once some of the competition dies (or after a few weeks of launch).
I hope Samsung doesn't stop listening to their customers.

A lot of that "technology" is as cheap as beans mate. Innovation can potentially be expensive but arguably there is little of that recently. If you're fine being screwed it's up to you but I imagine a lot of people prefer not.
