Apple are knows as great innovators in the tech industry. Innovate can mean either renew or change. In this respect, Apple definitely has done so many times, and it is not surprising they are industry leaders, admired by many companies, even their rivals.

AnonD-16809, 28 Aug 2011what im trying to say is that without Steve jobs and apple ... moreA fair point that, if you read carefully, you will see that I acknowledged. I would, however, like to think that somebody else would have filled Apple's role had they not been there... there might have been a few differences and it may have happened a bit later but we would have what we have now nevertheless. Such is man's drive to improve efficiency and ease (and of course make money in the process).

Anyways, the whole basis of my argument was aimed at those people who are too naive to realise that not absolutely everything is a result of Apple's ingenuity, that's all.

I just want people to acknowledge the other technological entities, such as Android and Linux (and Xerox in this case) who contribute towards what we have today and do so freely so that others may have what they have (in many cases).

AnonD-16809, 28 Aug 2011the xerox parc was used privately inside the company..they ... moreThat may be so, however, you just admitted that the GUI we use today was not originally Apple's intellectual property. You also just admitted that they did not invent the tablet and MP3 player.

I am willing to give Apple and Microsoft credit for popularising the various devices, but they were not the inventors as such; a fact that, as I to said Frank Snotra, few people seem to remember.

I was not detracting from Apple and co's contribution. I was merely stating that there are other people that have contributed to the technological world as we know it and pointing out that Apple and Microsoft are no longer the best in absolutely every respect, which is something that few people recongnise.

Lastly, you have a fair enough point about the Apps (something that will be dealt with in time). However. THE SYSTEM/OPERATING SOFTWARE will make use of the dual core processors, which will come in handy especially with regards to anything graphical.

LinuxUser, 28 Aug 2011In reply to NightHawk, tv_gadget and Yellow: First of al... morethe xerox parc was used privately inside the company..they werent used on personal computers steve jobs and ex-xerox employees made the first gui based personal computer..so without steve jobs we wouldn't have GUI in pcs nowadays...before apple released the ipod and itunes there wasnt any source for getting mp3 music online...there were other tablets but they werent good enought to replace pcs..they ran on windows, windows on tablets couldt do even 25% of what it does on regular pcs and it required a lot of power and battery..also they didnt use capacitive touchscreens so the ipad was the first tablet that actualy does everything like a pc..so without steve jobs and his ipad we would be stuck with regular pcs for the rest of our lives..so how many apps on android devices take advantage of its dual core cpus??NONE!check out asphalt 5 on galaxy s 2 it lags more than 5 year old phones..

            To Frank Snotra:
I am sad to notice that you seem to have misread both me and my comment. The facts that I quoted were there simply to disprove the statements made by the very same people that you take me to be. You will notice that I repeatedly mentioned that Apple and co. popularised many of the devices in question.

I am openly willing to admit that Microsoft and Apple are brilliant in many respects and have contributed much. However, I want people to realise that they ARE NOT the creators of EVERYTHING out there and there are numerous other people who have contributed.

I personally am totally against Fanboyism and thus get extremely frustrated when people make sweeping statements and quote facts that are incorrect (I am sure you will find that my content is factual).

In conclusion, I am in no ways saying that Apple and Microsoft are a bunch of useless morons, I am instead saying that they are not the only innovators out there; something which many people don't realise.

LinuxUser, 28 Aug 2011In reply to NightHawk, tv_gadget and Yellow: First of al... moreit is sad to me that you are so closed minded that you cannot recognize the contribution that jobs, gates et al, have made to society. I will not even engage in a dispute over who invented what, but he fact remains that both apple and microsoft have developed and marketed a suite of products that brought computing to people's homes. it seems to be more of a childish motive for you....about whose mobile is bigger.

so measured in either social impact or finances, i am pretty sure you won't find individuals that have changed the way we do things

i agree with other posters, i do worry about the future when people cannot open their minds, just a little bit, in order to process facts, rather than force their ideas on others

In reply to NightHawk, tv_gadget and Yellow:

First of all, it is people with your level of naiveness, NightHawk, that make me worry about the future of mankind. I would like to start by clearing a few things up:

                1. Neither Apple nor Microsoft invented the mouse and GUI we use today. It was actually a company called Xerox. Apple and Microsoft "Borrowed" the idea.
                2. There were MP3 players and tablets BEFORE the iPad and iPod. Apple merely popularised them.

I would thus like to reiterate that Apple did not invent the GUI, tablet or MP3 player, although they had an effect on their current popularity. So don't come with your praise Steve Jobs and Apple, creator of all rubbish.

Secondly, whoever seems to think that other manufacturers are copying Apple as far as mobile phones go can't read:
                1. Top of the range droids have Dual core 1.2GHz processors (vs 1Gz single core)
                2. 4.3 inch screen vs a pathetic 3.5 inch
                3. 8MP camera with HD video vs 5MP qHD

These are just a few examples of how far Apple is behind as far as phones go. To top it off, they are "borrowing" may of their OS ideas from many other OSs. ie. That nice new notification area that highlights the innovativeness of Apple, well Android has been using it for a while now.

Oh, and one last thing, Nighthawk, torrents are not illegal. Some of the content which is transferred through them is. So get your facts straight.

Apple first made the computer which you use at home. They made the first GUI n the mouse which you still use today. iPod made mp3 players popular to the world. Before they used to be considered as products for geeks. Torrent is illegal. If you live in a country where law enforcement is very active you can be behind the bars for 5 years. iTunes first made it possible to buy music legally from home just for 99 cents instead of going to music store n buy the whole cd of an album.

I tried touch screens and returned to a normal phone. If I want to surf internet for an hour I have my computer, why pay for the same thing twice? I'm just afraid that the "next big thing" will be even worse than touch screens.
