It is pretty simple higher number means better phone and plus means bigger phone, I think it will be X1, X2

Iphone 3G is supposed to be the second iteration of iphone and the name is because of 3G network, but since the 3G naming confuse a lot of people into thinking it as a 3rd, they name the successor iphone 4 skiping s, 2s altogether

Consumers are starting to find out the truth and stop buying. Apple should STOP trying to aim for profit, but aim for customer expectations.

If you can't convince the customers then confuse them! It is a saturated market for high premium mobiles as the differentiation hardly matters for an expensive frequent (< three years cycle) upgrades! Like PC market it will settle down to 10 years cycle. Even OS cannot be upgraded without introducing new form factors and new UI methods. All in all, peaceful ending of mobile market growth!

X1, X2 and so on I guest.
I think iphone 9 will not happen and 8s will be the last of the product line. Lcd will be used only in SE line.

Is iphone X too hard for their customers to understand? Oh, wait, they lack intelligence to understand something as simple as 'X'.
