ipolit, 27 Apr 2018This is an upgrade of redmi note Y/5a line. Perfect devices... more5.6-6.0" is the new normal. Because 2.1 phone with 5.8" is similar in dimensions like 16:9 phone with 5.2" screen. But will be great to more OEMs make phones like Xperia Compact XZ2 (just not that fat). 5" with 2.1 aspect radio=great handling phone.

Is this phone better that Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 5, MI A1, Mi A2, and why? Where is Redmi S1?

AnonD-744321, 27 Apr 2018you missed the chance of saying (sHamsung) lolShamsung hahaha
        Crapsung is better though.
Anyways, HD resolution on a 5'99 inch phone? Hmmm
Must be a conservative efficient phone instead of power performer.

This is an upgrade of redmi note Y/5a line. Perfect devices for indian market, perhaps priced about 140 USD.
As for the screen sizes, they will never go smaller, since there is a corellation between the screen size and the daily usage of the devices. Larger devices, more time spent in the Internet, more income from ads, sells, etc.
            https://www.androidheadlines.com/2018/03/how-screen-size-correlates-to-smartphone-usage-infographic.html
So we have to leave our hopes for normal size devices.

and it seems that 5.99 display is on repeat again and again.

Would love to see a bezelless(actualy just smaller bezzel) 5" phone

Snapdragon 625? Eh, it's still better than Crapsung's Exynos 7870!

AnonD-731400, 26 Apr 2018another totally disgusting lowend crap .. bleee.. wrong att... moreMissed Hugo Barra very much, he the one who bring up Xiaomi to the world. By the way too much 6 inchers phone produce by Xiaomi this years starting with Redmi Note 5 India (Redmi 5 Plus), Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5 China/Global, Mi 6X/Mi A2 and now Redmi S2. At least make 1 or 2 below 5.5 inch phone because there are people who does not like bigger phone. Me myself like both bigger and smaller phone because I used both.

SKR..., 26 Apr 2018Like Exynos 7870 for Samsung, same Snapdragon 625 for Xiaomi! at least it isn't outdated like the exynos 7870
it is a very power effective SoC and provides better video recording (tho XIAOMI is still sticking to there in house ISP which doesn't support 1080p 60fps whick REALLY SUCK) and MUCH more RAW CPU force and GPU and quick charge and MOST IMPORTANTLY it has newer blutooth and network connections
some how the SD625 falls perfectly between battery and proformence that is why it sells the most

yes they have smaller sizes BUT they want us to believe that this phone has bigger screen and claim more screen to body rato and with tinner sides so you think it has bigger screen and slimmer profile
in the end it is All just a big pile of marketing propaganda BULL$HIT };$)

orklid, 26 Apr 2018A 6" 720p display? No thanks. Ruined the Redmi lineup. Make... moreYes thats a great idea for compact phone 5" or 5.2" with 2:1 aspect ratio in body of.. For example iPhone SE, or this new SE2. And not only flagships phones, but also other mid, low range, and still, they can keep this 5.8"-6" in another lineup.
But i guess Asian market wants a biger phones since 2014, even Apple change mind for that with plus models

This screen will be 267 ppi just like the Redmi Note 5A/Redmi Y1 (5.5", 16:9) - compare with a 24" 1920x1080 monitor @ 92 ppi. Maybe the lower resolution display is a significant cost-cutting tradition for products that still have market share.

A 6" 720p display? No thanks. Ruined the Redmi lineup. Make some smaller devices Xiaomi, Something like Xperia XZ2 compact. Phones are getting too big nowadays. And stop copying that ugly iPhone X design. The camera module would look much better if placed in the middle, horizontally (or even vertically).
