And taking it with me to college while cycling 10km is back breaking.
So I was looking at it from that perspective.

Techfan21, 07 May 2018Simple point, Not all bags can take a laptop Sometimes pp... moreI have carried a much heavier bag in my school days and for double the distance you mentioned. I didn't have any problem with that in school. Most people don't use cycles to commute to work either, so that's not a general argument.
If you are using the iPad for some work, then you would most certainly carry its charger along with the keyboard and/or pencil(depending on your work),so you will still be carrying a somewhat decent weight.
You have ultrabooks and 2 in 1s if you want a lightweight device. It even comes with a full PC OS, with much more software availability.

nigerianprince, 07 May 2018Samsung had hoarded most of the SD835 chips in early 2017, ... moreDidn't look at it that way, thanks for clearing that up.

Techfan21, 07 May 2018I'll give you the special software bit, But the 144Hz pane... moreSamsung had hoarded most of the SD835 chips in early 2017, leaving not enough for other OEMs to use, that's why the LG G6, and even the U Ultra came with SD821, and other OEMs, including LG and HTC, had to wait for longer, till May. This year also, they took the entire first batch of SD 845.
So far, only 6 devices are sold with SD845, out of which 2 are S9 & S9+. Xiaomi and Sony sell 2 each, neither of which is available worldwide yet.
So, Google would have to wait for atleast 7 months for the Pixel 2/Xl and around 7-8 months for the original Pixel /Xl, and that's a lot of time, as compared to 3 months for iPad.
This means, even if they wanted to, Google couldn't release pixels worldwide without delaying them by almost a generation.
So, comparison of iPad with Pixel isn't valid at all.
"for a flagship they should use the best hardware they have available for mass production at that time"
Remember, Samsung only sells their flagship SD variants in USA, and for that alone, they had to reserve the entire first batch of SD chipsets. All other companies, except some, use SD chipsets for their flagships, all over the world. So Qualcomm has to sell to them as well.
Only Apple designs and uses A10x and A11, but Sd835 and SD845 are made by Qualcomm for multiple OEMs, not just Samsung. That's why Samsung can't use SD845, as they've already forced others to release their flagship phones later.

nigerianprince, 06 May 20185-6 months? LOL! The iPad Pro was available in June 2017, ... moreI'll give you the special software bit,
But the 144Hz panel is awesome,
            By that same metric,
Why does Google launch the Pixels so late? Why not wait a few months and launch with the next chipset?(845 for the Pixel 2 or the 835 for the original pixel)
It's to do with the update cycle.
The manufactures have a period where they launch a product of a certain series, and for a flagship they should use the best hardware they have available for mass production at that time)
Stop simply bashing Apple and look at the real world.

Not all bags can take a laptop
Sometimes ppl just use small bags to carry a 10 inch tab with them on the go. That's the point of a tablet, it doesn't have the bulk or heft of a laptop but is still more functional than a smartphone.
Try taking a 2 and a half kilo laptop while cycling, your back would be wrecked by the time you travel even 5km.
Same thing, a tablet weighs a fraction of that. It's way more convenient to take with you.

How you suppose to take Android tablet serious when you put last year smarthpone flagship chipset into huge device which could accommodate much more powerful chipset. iPads with their beastly chipsets all the way!

You will be keeping it on a desk or on your lap, especially if you are using the keyboard or the pencil. And it's not like you will carry it in your pocket, like a phone. The heavier laptop would be easily bearable in your backpack. So a laptop can still be conveniently used.
The 2-in-1s actually combine the best PC hardware with a PC OS, and deliver it in a lightweight package.

The iPad Pro was available in June 2017, whereas the Phone 7 was available in September 2016, which is a gap of 9 months. They could have waited 3 months more and released them with A11 Bionic. It's not like it was affordable or had any special software which other iPads didn't have.

Then why didn't they release the iPad pro with A11 SoC, which is more powerful
More ram only helps with multi tasking, not with power. You need a more powerful SoC for that.
"Tablets needs to be more powerful than mobiles to sale more."
I think it's safe to say that the non-pro models contribute highest to the sales numbers, and they come with older chip-sets, and are also more value for money.

And the cheap iPad Apple launched last month is less than 400$, so Apple adding a 1 year old chip is permissible, not Samsung launching that expensive a tab and skimping out on the Chipset.

It's so dumb and basic and such a pain to use on a touch screen, why would anyone use it, unless you don't even have a PC.
As for painting - yeah a lot of layers, true.

Video editing does require a lot of power, but there no decent software to edit videos on a tablet. Sure you can use X or Y, but you can have that made on PC in a fraction of the time.

I know, because I'm a photographer, video creator, I draw and paint a lot, and a surface pro just doesn't cut it. That's why I use an ipad pro 12.9". And I have no need for a laptop anymore.
And yes, I owned a surface pro for 1 month but returned it because Windows is not a good choice for tablets.
