This phone is intended for people who work in rough conditions. By that I don't mean the boss is mean to you and doesn't let you have a coffee break rough. This is meant for construction workers, fireman, oil rig workers, lumberjacks...
Professionals in hazardous environments. Your cute little iPhone would die so fast if you were to take it to work with you in these professions. I used to be a volunteer firefighter, and I killed one phone by foolishly bringing it with me on an intervention.
When you are a fireman, you get wet, you lean onto and hit into things (pressing on stuff in your pockets), you get exposed to extreme heat...
This is not a toy for checking your Facebook status and editing your next profile photo taken by a 12mpix camera. This is for people who actually work for a living and need to communicate in the line of work.

We use sonim phones at work, the company suplied them, because normal phones dont last more than 3 months before they get destroyed, even if its always in a pocket. Sonim are great phones if you are using them for what whey are ment to be used for. And yes I have a second normal phone for non work usage :)
