I m really glad that Samsung is taking an interest in Meego. It is always better the consumers to have more choice than having just 2 players ie Android n iOS dominating it.

Meego is just to good to pass up... I hope Samsung adopts it because mobile tech would benefit greatly from Meego getting into the fray.. Currently, Android is my OS of choice but Meego just has way too much potential.. More than anything that currently exists at the moment.
Should Meego explode (which it most likely will should any major hardware manufacturer put any real support behind it) things will get very very interesting.. The N9 is just the tip of the iceberg...

These people thinks that Nokia N9 will have a mayor impact on the phone market.
A revolution they say. it is extremely easy to use and as fast as a shark. Mulititasking is without the best in business.

what the hell is wrong with nokia they are going insane they want to destroy their market ..i have been using nokia n900 since it was launched and best of all the existing phones..i do agree that maemo and megoo dosent have so many application but it has provided a dramatic freedom

Taking this sentence into account, it makes Meego sound like there has been no products being developed anywhere for Meego outside the Nokia N9/N950. There's also meego netbooks (Eee PC X101, Samsung N500, the Lonovo meego netbook), and tablets such as the wetab out there currentrly either sold running meego, or abouts to be sold running meego.

Oh, and btw. There's no reason to put a dual-core 1,5ghz cpu in a phone with a OS that would run on a single core 750Mhz cpu. It would just mean higher costs and lower return of interest.

I've tried Meego. It was awesome in my netbook. Extremely fast and very responsive. Whatever decision coming down on Meego in the future, I believe it would political instead of technical matter. Meego rocks. Best Linux gadget OS I've ever seen.

elop and microsoft knows the potentials of the meeego os that is why they are killing it so soon cause they want to promote to windows 7 mango mobile os but htc now has already a good mango phone htc titan if they want to win the race between all the carriers they should make one hell of a hardware phone like 4.3" qHD screen polycarbonate body like the n9 1.5 duo core 1gb ram or more and of course the n8 camera 12mb or the sony ericsson sensore 16mb and the n9 space 64gb this kind of phone will kill all the competetors no question aded sure hope nokia get back on its feet cause am a nokia fan i own an n900 nearly 2 years now

Taking a cue from Lion King. Meego is truly the 'Simba' of mobile industry, everyone agrees that its going to be the Android killer when the day arrives but its just that 'Pride Rock' is being run by 'Scar' right now. Ofcourse the story can change a bit if Samsung gets involved, they're already selling Meego netbooks here in India. If they go MeeGo full steam, they can just murder Android and own the market very quickly. Btw Ari Jaaksi is also jobless right now, after webOS's death. Luck?

if this is true, the future is now further away.
There will be a day, when phones are running full feature OSees.
MeeGo was such an OS. Windows 8 might, if hardware catches up... but we might have to wait for Windowa 9.
Apple will probably make this move some time in the future as well.
But MeeGo was already there, worked on todays hardware.

No one is saying that Symbian is incapable of functioning.. However, it is incredibly dated and does not fare well against more modern OS'es. Its overall performance and memory management routines leave a lot to be desired.(hence the release of the revised Symbian Belle Platform).
The thing is though, even with this revision, its doubtful that Nokia would adopt Symbian as its major platform simply on the basis of its inability to gain traction in terms of market share. In short, its just not as popular and Android or iOS right now. Symbian was at the top of a very short list OS'es back in the day... But if you asked kids about Symbian these days, they probably wouldn't know what you were talking about.. All they care about is Android and iOS. People buy phones based on their namesake alone.. And that's what Nokia needs.. An OS capable of revitalizing their devices.. That's what their hoping to achieve with WP7 (As opposed to Meego which I still don't get) and that's why Symbian is unfortunately, no longer viable.. Its superficial, but true...

the gamechanging decision can come from samsung. if they decide to invest and adopt Meego, the decision will pronounce the end of Nokia and, of course Android.

Why dont u people call Eric Schmidt evil. He is the chairman of google and was in the board of directors for Apple. He has stolen Apple's idea to the world wrapped in gift paper and all u morons call - wow, Google is the the greatest!

By the way, Meego was created as joining of two simillar projects - Maemo and Moblin, first was Nokia invention, while second was Intel attempt to promote their platform for mobile applications (hardware platform). Since Nokia lost interest, Intel found another partner - MS to support Intel hardware for mobile applications, hence Meego (though promising) is usless now for all "driving motors".
