Carol, 06 May 2018I do not like Samesung but your arguements are kind of poin... morewell, if you think it's pointless why are you talking like you designed the damn thing?
we are talking about a mobile phone... thickness is an issue here... this is not a pc... this is something should fit easily in your pocket.
Also, smartphones with high resolution can give you crystal clear view when you wanna watch a movie or something... maybe you are using an old phone with small size bad screen... if you don't use it for something don't assume that others will do exactly like you.

and i hate samsung, im just talking in general about foldable phone expected issues.

                      Samsung is very late again.

I already have a foldable smartphone from 2014, and it's called Apple iPhone 6, and the bigger Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

Move on to 2015 and I have the successors, the HTC One M9 and Huawei Google Nexus 6P.

2016 comes, and I have the Xiaomi Mi 5 and Nextbit Robin.

2017 begins, and I have the HTC U Ultra and HTC U11.

Smartphones are not made to watch movies. To browse with such ration is heaven. Foldable screens are most probably made of a very thin layer of fiber or something else that conducts light, meaning: the quality will not be quite the best their is, but that would be the reason why this type of phones won't have to many fans. Thikness is also not relevant when such devices can work like a pc, which of course, i doubt.

Maybe this is good for people who prefer tablets... but don't forget the next points :
1- when you open it with the samsung screen ratio you will be looking at a square area, only good for web browsing, try watch a movie on 18:18 screen lmfao.
2- think about the thickness, how it will be when placing 1 normal screen outside, and 1 big foldable screen inside the phone, you are risking more thickness or less battery size.
3- screen looks very fragile, think about the repair cost.
4- the cost, im sure if you buy a normal phone and tablet will cost you way less than this phone.

Sorry fold-able phone in any possible iteration is nothing BUT a gimmick, which is why they are trying so damn hard to make it work, it doesn't. Flip-phones were inferior to the candybar form factor and died off... You can add a full foldable display, pushing the price up by several hundred $$$ and gain nothing of real benefit.

This will be a star in the MWC 2019.

Kyle Ruggles, 05 May 2018Meh.... There goes 1 handed typing, there goes multitask... moreA foldable phone is more optimised for one handed use than one that doesn't fold. You fold it to make it compact. I also didn't know that it's impossible to multitask on a tablet sized screen? Care to elaborate on that? 🤔

Foldable phone like book. My big question, how about it's strengh if that opened and closed hundred times? It must be using flexible cable that usually can stand for one year only..
