Anonymous, 09 May 2018If a S450 is clocked at 1.8Gx8 (Redmi S2) and a S636 (RN5P) is c... moreThe answer is no, it's all about how the processor is built, sd 636 is built on custom kryo cores which is much powerful that the cortex that is used is snapdragon 625, which is way more powerful that the sd 450. In short the kryo cores of sd 636 clocked at 1.8ghz is more powerful than the sd 625 clocked at 2.0ghz or more. Let the alone the sd 450 which is clocked at 1.8ghz and uses liwer cortex version.

I've heard it has only got 384 KB L2 cache and 1MB L3 cache memory. If it is real then how it's gonna be faster with that low amount of cache memory..........................

Shadocx, 12 May 2018Dude, both Snapdragon 660 and 636 got Kryo 260 cores, the 636 is... moreI admit that I made a mistake, it indeed is A73, but it isn't just downclocked, it has its cache reduced.

Gene IRL, 12 May 2018That's Snapdragon 660.Dude, both Snapdragon 660 and 636 got Kryo 260 cores, the 636 is just clocked lower...

Shadocx, 09 May 2018Wikipedia says the Kryo 260 cores are 4x semi custom Cortex-A73 ... moreThat's Snapdragon 660.

Since flagship phones are costing $1000+ now, they want to create a segment of phones that cost $700-$900 with this chipset....

I'll take kirin anytime. Not only kirin has a head start

in A.i kirin processors also seem to be be better in

performance and heat management .

Love the Community, 09 May 2018If they want to save, get a SD820/SD821/SD835 phone. The 820 was a problematic chip because it throttled like hell. The 821 is better graphically, but the 626/630 match it in regular performance numbers. The only argument you have is get an 835. BUT again, the rising cost of flagships still means you're paying a premium for the previous year's tech.

I wouldn't mind if Qualcomm got rid of their 2 and 400 series chips and even the 6 series if the 7 series chips are used. But again, the price...some of these phones out now are not worth the price.

GoToSchool, 09 May 2018How in the world is intel struggling with mass producing 10nm cp... moreWell, manufacturing process is not that simple and 10nm from company A doesn't always mean better than 14nm from company B, doesn't even mean that it's smaller! The name can refer to whatever size of any component, whichever makes better marketing.

GoToSchool, 09 May 2018How in the world is intel struggling with mass producing 10nm cp... moreThat's easy. Intel CPUs are enormous, phone ones are much smaller. As a result it is easier to shrink a phone cpu. When a shrink happens the entire die has to be made to work with the tolerances being acceptable over the entire surface area. Think of painting a wall. It's easy to paint a small area with no defects, but painting a large area with no defects is difficult. But for a large CPU almost the entire area has to be defect free.

Love the Community, 09 May 2018This is getting way too pointless. It's only a premium SD660 and... moreSo you're okay with customers paying the cost of a budget gaming laptop for a phone? If the only chip that existed was the 845, where would the savings be?
