Google will require that phone makers roll out monthly security updates

The announcement was made during Google’s Android Security discussion at Google I/O.

Hopefully, it will happen!
Sadly Android 8.0 and Treble Project did not change much ... so far.
I know many manufacturers are like "You want new Android? Buy a new phone/tablet" but I would really like this to be changed.
I really like Android, but phone/tablet manufacturers not so much.

Good. Now Google needs to force them to also update major versions more often.

      It's about time.

Gotta love that article title just a few slots before this one: "Samsung to put the Galaxy A6 and A6+ on quarterly update cycle".

Samsung apparently didn't get the memo and is in for a rude awakening.

Yaaaaaaay. But they should also deal with the partial/fake update situation as reported by XDA and Wired.

Anonymous, 11 May 2018.... This is bad. Force someone to make monthly updates ... moreI agree.
Forced security update doesn't guarantee more stability of the system. Just force them roll-out major update for at least 1 android version higher.

Anonymous, 11 May 2018.... This is bad. Force someone to make monthly updates ... moreThey're just security updates. Not massive changes that will require reprogramming tons of data. Most oems already do it, but only on flagship offerings.

Does this really mean that every single Android phone in the world?? From budget to high end Androids??
And for how long will be the support??
What will be the consequence to those who will not follow the requirement??

I hope this will force lazy OEMs to give us monthly updates or basically get out of business if they don't like the new protocol.

                    .... This is bad.

Force someone to make monthly updates = chance of bugs and errors increases.

Rather push a person to launch when stable ASAP is better.

Updates is supposed to better the device, NOT a forced yearly release of versions (Change for the sake of changing...)
