Everything been mentioned is the wrong they to do it. No need any crappy 845, just put custom Tegra or something to make sure you had best power available, please no nonsense 120 or 140hz screens, waste of Money and computational power, 60hz is perfectly fine. Make F... exclusives to show of device power and make it more unique, implement hardware buttons inside a device, that it, you have a winner

This ROG Phone is excellent and is made by ASUS!

Fearghast, 14 May 2018Damn girl, whole 5 games? O.o That sure will push so many ... moreWhat are you talking about? I was a very late adopter to the smartphone market (summer 2013)....i only got one once I learned you could run emulators on it......on top of epsxe, ppsspp, snes9x,megaN64, Nostalgia.Nes/GBC, GENplusdroid, recast you have PUBG mobile, GTA china town wars/ Liberty city stories/ San Andreas/Vice city, Oddworld strangers wrath/munch's oddysee/new and tasty, modern combat, N.O.V.A , parallex dead effect, postal, geometry wars, LIMBO, xenowork , conduit , dead space, splinter cell conviction XCOM:EW, star engine a plethora of racing games , Destiny warfare etc etc.....on top of it if you have a Xperia (as I do) you can play ps4 through remote play..... yeah okay most of those games are either old generation ports (and I was really hoping that after the nvidia shield we'd see more like Doom and HL2 on mobile) I for one am absolutely thrilled that the "gaming phone" is trending.....more exposure means expanded game libraries .....now if we could only start getting 2 microsd slots (instead of these dual sims) and 256gb standard internal memory we might get some where

BTW: I am also one of the 0.01% with a controller (multiple actually ipega 9023, MOCUTE and have the ps4 gameclip)

Not a surprise at all since their current Zenfones haven't been making a dent in the market saturated by other swift Chinese competition rushing phones quicker than Asus could even bite a single fingernail and because gaming phones have recently blipped on the radar of the mobile world. Sorry Acer, not saying that your Predator 8 was unimportant but it was relatively inconsequential back then

That sure will push so many developers to make other games like it ... on a 1$ per app market :-D
Let me repeat myself and even and another slice to the injury - no body cares, there are "almost" no good games for mobile OS and nobody will develop games for market, that is not willing to pay more then few bucks.

          BTW:
World of tank blitz - trash
World of warship blitz. - trash
Final fantasy 15 - great game
starwar knight of the old republic - incredible game
          PUBG - trash
Need for speed no limit - utter trash
Real racing - trash without a real multiplayer
          Shadowgun Legend - great game.

Good games on mobile are those that are great with a touchscreen, nobody cares for 0,01% of players using gamepads.

You can buy a decent bluetooth game pad that looks similar to the ones with PS or XBOX in just $30. Better than anything that include with a smartphone and most wireless a keyboard and wireless a mouse are works fine.

Actually the "liquid cooling" you talking about is called "heat pipe." It's nothing new its starting popular in PC market in 1990 and now it's just very standard and found in low-end to hi-end heat sinks and many decent smartphones also using it for many years now. The real "liquid cooling" is the one that you can found in PC, car, motorcycle and the like, normally they equip with a radiator.

And most Android phone already can output your display via both hardware and software for many years now. The recent ones that marketing about it and can do that out of the box are: Huawei Mate 10 can do that with just USB-C and Galaxy S8 and S9 can do that but need to buy a dock which is pretty expensive and dumb.

Nothing new. All just old stuffs that icing on top with marketing.

would be nice if they had an external battery that can slide out from the side, while a small internal 600mah battery powers the phone for awhile so you can switch to a charged battery

ikke, 11 May 2018except if its done by Asus The Gaming company....He is right though. Especially for "gaming" marketing its sure aiming at technology illiterates AKA dumb people. Also ASUS is not "gaming company." It's hardware/tech company. The ROG (Republic of Gaming) is just one of their "gaming" branding like STRIX, CROSSHAIR, Zephyrus, etc.

There's nothing really special about ROG other than ASUS promote it as "da BEST!" of the gaming branding they got. Like their motherboard is decent but over it's a bit overprice compared with AsRock Taichi while the Taichi overall got better components and more features at the lower price tag. I would expect ASUS to just put high-end SoC like SD845 and 120Hz screen or something long the line and call it ROG Gaming smartphone and done with it. Probably performance similar to BlackShark but much higher price tag. Because it's "ROG."

Like Macs are a lot more overprice than PC with similar specs because its got a fruit logo.

                          You know... marketing.

The GPU I'm aware it's CUDA so a single core is WAY weaker than Mali so I guess a few hundreds. But how many exactly it can carry? Video capabilities? Is it easy to code into the SoC? Sorry for bombarding so many questions. It's a SoC I've never heard of!

When I think of a "gaming smartphone" my first taught goes to a phone from the Moto Z lineup with the MotoGamepad Mod where you actually have physical buttons and use all of the real estate of the screen since you don't block it with your fingers.

But if you want to build it from scratch, first thing it needs is a big battery. What's the point of the latest performance if the phone dies in 2 hours of use. You will still need to use it for the basic functions of the smartphone, calls, internet etc. Other wise you would have bought a portable gaming console to carry around with you.
Dual (stereo) front facing speakers minimum.

But I still consider "gaming smartphones" as marketing and nothing more. So useless.
